Hi,
I just found I passed my Trinity Guildhall grade 5 piano (with Distinction, I've just found out so thought I'd get that in there). I'm not looking to take grade 6 until November 2009 because I'm going in to my final year at University in September and don't want too be distracted. Can anyone suggest any pieces that are between grade 5 and grade 6? I know this is a vague question so I hope I don't get flamed!
Cheers
Chris

The Real Repertoire books published by Faber have some great pieces in, a lot of which are around that level. You'll also find that Book 3 in other series (Keyboard Anthology, More Romantic Pieces, Romantic Sketchbook, Classics to Modern) are good, and a lot of the ABRSM Easier Piano Pieces series are that sort of level as well.

OK I'll have a go. Some may be bordering Grade 6, others here have been set for Gr5 and Gr6 in other boards.
Chopin: Prelude in B minor Op28 No6
Bonsor: 'Feeling Good' from 'Jazzy Piano 2' (also others but Willie Wagglestick was set for Gr7)
Granados: Some of 'Valses Poeticos' eg No 5 and No 6
Albeniz: Tango
Gershwin: Summertime
Grieg: Some of Lyric Peices Book 1
Schumann: Some of easier 'Kinderscenen' eg 'From Foreign Lands and People'. You might try 'Traumerei' also but its been Gr7
Mendelssohn: Some of the 'Songs without Words' eg Op67 No 3, Op19 No 1 (a good investment to buy all of these, 48 pieces from Grade 6 -8 and beyond! )
Scarlatti: Sonatas K9, K213, K389, all in D Minor
Tchaikowsky: Some of Album pour Enfants Op39
Beethoven: His easiest Sonata - Op49 No 2
Mozart: Sonata in C K545 (The well known one)

I would echo Andante in C's mention of Classics to Moderns (and more Classics to Moderns - two parallel sets).
The grading is different though from the AB collections - I think you would want to look at books 5 and / or 6. I have a student who is between grades 4 and 5, and is finding book 4 about right.
Book 5 C to M has the Schumann (From Foreign Lands) that F sharp minor mentioned, and also La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin (Debussy). Book 6 has a couple of Brahms Waltzes, a Beethoven Bagatelle, another Debussy etc.

Oops! That'll teach me to rely on my memory and not to go and look.

What about some
Chopin? A lot of the Mazuraks, quite a few waltzes, and a few of the Nocturnes and Polonaises (e.g. No 12 in Bb) are achievable at about Grade 6, and your skill will improve no end while you are learning them.
