I was just thinking about the next couple of years and was wondering if anyone knows if the ABRSM saxophone syllabus is due to change? Also, does anyone know if they're thinking about bringing out books of exam pieces like the clarinet? Thanks

It seems the sax syllabus last changed in 2006 so it'll probably be another 3 years before it changes again (assuming they always run for 5 years).

I don't know if they're planning to bring out the grade books. I think it would be useful if they started doing this for all instruments and all grades as it gives people the option to only buy one book. I guess they may do this for the sax syllabus at the next change.

EDIT: I've just seen that the syllabuses don't always run for 5 years at a time. In that case I don't know how long it will be until the next change, but maybe no longer than 3 years.

It says in the front of the current syllabus that the next edition of the syllabus (out for 2010) only has new pieces for trombone and trumpet.
Thus the sax syllabus must be valid at least until 2011 as the syllabi come out every two years. Presumably you will be able to play from the 2010-11 syllabus for the first session of 2012, as currently happens.

If in doubt ring the AB - I have always found them to be very helpful.
