Does anybody play this sonata or know which grade it would be?
I'm finding the first movement quite tricky both with the timing and the fingering. I think I just need to sit down and work it all out very slowly.

Handel is a lot more difficult to play than the actual music notation makes it look.
Many people incorrectly form the impression that because it is Baroque era, "it must be dead easy, cos they never wrote nothing difficult in them days" (Quoted from an overheard comment at a string workshop).
The fact that Corelli was a virtuoso violinist in his day and indeed his Opus 5 violin sonatas are still deemed virtuoso music even in the 21st century, says a lot about just how difficult music from the era is, including Handel and Vivaldi.
Lottie, yes working slowly through it is an option, but there's a limit to how slowly. Rather than agonising over the notes, you'd be wiser to tackle something a little easier and revisit the Handel at a later point when your skills are increased and you are able to get more enjoyment from the music itself.
While I believe in stretching oneself when learning a musical instrument, you can also do a lot of damage to your developing technique by tackling music that is some way beyond your current technique and ability.

Which one is number 4??
I did the Adagio from the F major (op 1 no 12) at about Grade 4/5 ish.
But, food for thought, that the first thing I ever heard Perlman play live was the D maj (op 1 no 13). The very first note just took my breath away - oh to be able to really play

I'm not sure which one is number 4 but I played the one in E major a while back, in the Edexcel AS list the first 2 movements are down as grade 6 and the 3rd and 4th as grade 7. I like Handel Sonatas

Number 4 is in Dmaj... I think it's in a group of six. I'll look up the number tomorrow...
