is "Brassed Off" not one of the best films of all time?

the soundtrack is amazing, i've never heard live brass players play that brilliantly!!!!!!!!!
Katet
Ive never seen it sad.gif sad.gif i really must see it!
hornplayer
you should really consider renting it out or buying it (the dvd is about £7 in virgin).

there was an offer with the daily mail about a month ago which gave you the dvd free with the paper. (just so you know, i definitely DO NOT read the Daily Mail under normal circumstances, i recycled it straight after getting the dvd!)

the film's all about the Grimley Colliery Band (based on the real life Grimley Colliery Brass Band). i wont tell you the rest, you've just gotta go out there and rent it!

the soundtrack is really something tho, it will move you, i promise!
Rainbow
Ooh I saw that film a couple of weeks ago - my dad borrowed it from a friend. I'm a string player who doesn't normally listen to brass instruments but I thought the film was amazing!
hornplayer
buy the soundtrack, that's amazing too!

whenever i watch the film, despite how many times i've since it, the scene in the albert hall always makes me cry! and i dont normally cry at films (cos im a big strong brass (in northern accent) player!)

Oh I love Brassed Off!!! Especially cos Ewan McGregor's in it! (the music is amazing too of course! biggrin.gif )
hornplayer

Ewan McGregor rocks!!! (We'd better not turn this post into a fanclub thing... lol...)

I do love "Brassed Off" too... when I last went on tour with my school orchestra the brass section insisted on playing it every time we went on the coach, to the annoyance of the string and wind sections!

lol! You all know Ewan McGregor played the French horn when he was at school, don't you? Has anyone seen that episode of 'Before they were famous' where he's playing Mozart 4 on some talent show aged about 15? It's hilarious! (and he was cute even then biggrin.gif )

Horn players better known for other capabilities:

Brahms (composer, pianist, smoker and coffee drinker, probably not all that brilliant on horn);

Hindemith (composer, viola soloist, teacher, player of all orchestral instruments, could play his own horn sonata);

Norman del Mar, Maurice Handford (conductors).
