jamie cullum,
are we impressed by his versability and the ingenuity of his covers?
or annoyed and frustrated by his changing of perfectly decent jazz tunes?

I have only seen him once (on TV for about 30 seconds channel flicking) but he was standing on top of a grand piano and then sitting on the keyboard. Personally from what I saw I thought he should have a restraining order banning him from going within 100 metres of a piano!

lol!! Jamie Callum went to my school!! I remember seeing him in the school production of 'Bugsy Malone' (as Bugsy..of course!!) I think he is a really dynamic and talented performer, aalthough I have to say I didnt enjoy his album all that much..but I think he'll continue to do really well.

the jumping-on-the-piano thing he did ages ago on Parkinson (on bbc 1) did scare me a little, i hope it didnt give anyone younger performers any ideas about performance practice!

He played at Cheltenham Jazz festival a couple of weeks before the competitive festival, and the adjudicator stood up and told a class of 10 year olds who had just played a Jazz piece that every one of them played better than Jamie did
He also stamped on that piano - £88000 worth of Steinway (and I've played it, its gorgeous) didn't leave a footprint though.
I think the Jury is out on what I think of him, I'm not a huge fan of cover versions but I do like his voice and think he is a good entertainer.
