I dont know whether anyone agrees with me but, I have found that the grade 4 violin pieces this years are not as good as I have had before and what my mates ahead in grades have at the moment. I have heard that the pieces for grade 4 throughout the years have been bad as well. Why grade 4 ?

Does anyone agree with me?

I've started looking at these with my teacher with a view to doing grade 4 in the autumn and actually feel spoilt for choice. I intend to learn as much of them as I can and choose the ones I can play best for the exam.

I don't like any of the A pieces at all and am going to look at the alternative list.

However, I like all of the B list pieces and am learning them all; I'll pick the one that sounds best a couple of weeks before the exam. I think they're lovely melodies and full of challenges.

The C pieces I'm a bit mixed about. I quite like Slow Fox but I think it doesn't 'go' anywhere and just seems insipid or pointless. The other two seem like 'kiddie' pieces to me (I'm an adult learner) so again I might look at the alternative list.
