Poor old Oboe - left out as usual!

Did you know Oboes and Bassoons, along with double-bass, viola, trombone/tuba and french horn are officially recognised as endangered species currently heading to be extinct in the playing world if you don't get more youngsters interested in them and quickly so.

I guess some of my pupils would like me to be extinct

but I love the Oboe and always will.

A Marimba is a tropical drink made from mangoes, pineapple, guavabana and Southern Comfort. To be drunk copiously before doing your AB exams on such islands as Tahiti (I wish!).

marimba is cool. think Evelyn Glennie........it's sort of a big xylophone, but sounds more mellow and less "clunky" !!!!

Why do u seperate drums and percussions??
And how about trumpet (horns)? what does dat mean?
Why there isnt any double reeds instruments on your list?

Marimba is like a xylophone... variations on the xylophone (wooden) include glockenspiel (metal bars), vibraphone (i think that's the one with the air being blown through it so the metal discs vibrate... if anyone can confirm this, please do!) and i believe that the marimba is glass, but don't quote me on any of this, i'm not a percussion expert.

I cant explain this very well, but I play the Marimba (sorta

) and wot do you mean by glass, wot parts. cos I'm not sure but the one I've played are wood or sum other stuff
A Marimba is like a huge xylophone with like resonating tubes at the bottom that brings more tone and sound (i guess)
A vibraphone is like how you explained it, and it has like a pedal like the piano!
