Hi,
I'd like some advice on this shoulder rest. I'm considering getting it but I've realised that this shoulder rest seems only to be used by people with long necks. My current rest is a Kun collapsible but I find that it isn't "wide" enough. I'd like a shoulder rest to cover a larger part of my shoulder and I've heard really good raves about this shoulder rest. Is this shoulder rest suitable for people with not-so-long necks? My current rest settings are that the shoulder end is rather low but the chest end is rather high.
Thanks!
It's a reasonably good rest, but why do you want a larger rest? If you're using your current one properly the width shouldn't matter (and incidentally, I don't know if your teacher has told you this, but it's not meant to go on your shoulder, but slightly forward over the clavicule and breast bone area).
Is there a specific reason that the width is causing you grief? Or is it just a personal preference thing? If so, go for it - get one, but if you're expecting it to solve some problem with your fiddle hold, then the problem isn't the rest, it's the way you're holding it.
