Hi everyone,

This is a exploratory post about the Chester forum concert I hope to organise next September time (seems a long way off at the moment!) assuming there is enough interest. I hope to use the same central Chester venue that was used for the last Chester concert a couple of years ago. If you think you might be interested leave a post so that I can see if there are enough performers to get this off the ground

pianocrazy
barry-clari
er....

yeah.

katyjay
Interested in principle biggrin.gif
petrat
I am interested too. The venue was lovely but expensive. I used it because it was paid for by one most generous forum member. It would not heve been possible otherwise. Perhaps it might be a good idea to look at using one of the local schools instead?
sarah123
where's chester? ph34r.gif
petrat
It is where one of the most famous sets of recorders in the world are kept! It is the county town of Cheshire and not far away from the north Welsh border. Try googling Chester recorders.

Count me in please
StuMac
I'd be interested too!

Two players and a non-player can also easily do Chester biggrin.gif
carys
I'd be interested smile.gif
sbhoa
Yes if the date is good for me.
fyrtlemyrtle
Wow, 14 months away.
Amber
I'm interested, but it would depend on dates.
The Old Lady
Very interested.

It's not so difficult travelling from London so in theory yes

That was the venue for my first concert and I'd love to go back there again! In principle yes smile.gif

barry-clari
As a general aside, I have been very impressed generally with how the North West of England have embraced these events - it's really encouraging, and it augurs very well for events in Manchester/Cheshire in the future. smile.gif

Count me in (even if I have to fly over especially from Holland!). How long a spot do we get?

I think a slot at forum concerts are usually 3-5 minutes. At your level (and especially if you're flying in!) you may also be interested in the London recitals, organised by Barry Clari, which allow for a longer programme (30-45 minutes, methinks) smile.gif

Panthera's right. smile.gif

Forum concert/Adult Learner's slots are around 3-5 minutes, the recital slots are around 45 minutes-ish, and usually you're sharing with one other forumite for the recitals. smile.gif

I think a slot at forum concerts are usually 3-5 minutes. ...

3-5 minutes is about the amount of possession you get in a 90 minute game of soccer! Alternatively it is enough time to become a track legend in Athletics. It is also plenty of time to mess up Prokofiev's Tocatta or a couple of Chopin Etudes (the latter - messing them up that is - being something in which I am well practiced).

See you there!

andante_in_c
I'll be there, dates permitting. For your information, pianocrazy, several of us concert regulars tend to have Recorder Orchestra rehearsals the second Saturday of the month in London.

Not at all I would certainly love to see a repeat performance. biggrin.gif

This level of interest is fantastic, and depending upon the number of players it might be possible to allow the more advanced performers a longer slot - it will depend upon eventual numbers.

If we can get enough interest I could be up for organising a Recital series in Chester - as there so many good venues in town, but I want to see how this one goes first. Keep your support rolling in and I will research dates and the venue and post more soon......

Pianocrazy piano.gif
barry-clari
Well done pianocrazy! smile.gif

A future recital series looks good too - if you'd like me to, I'd have a 45 minute slot (ie half a recital) in any northern recital series. smile.gif
petrat
I would be really interested in doing a recital in Chester. That is a very good idea.
Violin Hero
I am interested in performing. I would play some violin and play/sing in a group very happily.

Depends if i decide to go to uni or not though.
fsharpminor
Chester would give me the best chance yet of making a Forums 'do'. But as Mrs. is retiring next summer , it is highly likely we will take our main summer holiday in September next year. Until now we have been restricted to school holidays.
jod
Chester is a relatively easy Journey Cross-Country from ours so I might be able to do that one (provided hubby lets me off for good behaviour) or I could bring him with me as a performing opportunity for him too, and let Grand parents have the boys for a weekend.
Scaramouche
You should do another recital jod, I am just in awe of you and am desperate to hear you sing properly.

You should have come to Rotherhithe! I want to do another recital. For a start, I want to hear you play the sax.

There is usually no minimum level for forum concerts and beginners are very welcome.

Will be along the lines of the various events in the past, ensemble bits, solo bits, other bits. Without the flat dog that gatecrashed Anglesey. Unless petrat brings it laugh.gif

gedall40
I liked it too - in fact, I wish all dogs were like that and not sticking their heads in places that make me uncomfortable (no further details will be forthcoming, however hard you try to persuade me) smile.gif

I have pencilled in Chester in my diary, but it is a bit too soon for me to say whether I can make it.

Fair enough : plenty to come before that (not least Stalybridge, on July 18th, in a similar-ish area of the UK).

Chester applications and heavy promotion won't occur until Stalybridge is closed to applications. smile.gif
