Hope someone can help me Got my new viola today, a Gliga Genial 2. Well, picked it up from the post office today Anyway, I think that during transit the bridge has shifted to the side.... At least I don't think it's meant to look the way it does

I am using my knowledge form violins as I play one. I guess the viola is the same.

The bridge looks slightly out of position. Just straighten it up yourself or go to any music shop who will do it totally for free.

I think it most likely has recieved a bump in transit.

I don't know how experienced you are with stringed instruments so im not really sure on how to help you, although all you need to do is realign the bridge.

Slacken the strings and move the bridge back in line, it should be at a 90 degree angle and either side of the bridge in line with either side of the finger board.
However if your not very experienced or not sure about i would take it too a luthier.
This maybe helpful as they can check that the instrument is set up properly.

I agree, looks like it's moved sideways a bit in transit - it should be in the middle, not leaning off to the side. Slacken the strings a little bit, just enough to be able to move the bridge - don't completely slacken them off though as this could cause the soundpost to fall. The back side of the bridge (the side facing the tailpiece) should be at 90 degrees to the top of the viola. When tightening the strings afterwards, watch the bridge angle to make sure it stays perpendicular - bridges have a tendency to lean towards the fingerboard when tuning with the pegs, but you just need to ease it back gently if this happens.

Hi Claudia, just straighten it up. It should be central. It is very easy indeed to do and will take about 5 seconds. Any remaining problems, get in touch with the retailer who will surely bend over backwards to put it right for you
