Next collection from the PO Box will be this coming Friday (3rd Oct).

If you send an application in during the coming week, it'll be acknowledged either that Friday, or over the weekend, all being well. smile.gif

Hmmm - I've just thought of a way I might be able to make this....we'll see. If so, I'll bring baritone sax, which might help with the low end!

Great, thanks sbhoa! smile.gif

Spoke with a local adult band on Wednesday hoping to generate some interest there too. I need to speak with the conductor a bit more though.

I intend to post my form within the next few days. smile.gif Will be bringing stringy things rather than woodwindy things!

Form and payment safely with me - many thanks! Expect an email very soon. smile.gif

Looking at my list, we are well off for wind instruments (though we can always take more), but still low on strings. Still bags of time to get those forms in!

A quick reminder that I'm collecting from the PO Box again this coming Friday (10th), and will send email acknowlegements soon after. smile.gif

Quick question: on the eccles event site it says grade 3 and above? I've never taken grades as I'm an adult beginner and exam shy. What grade would I be? That's anyones guess, 2?, really don't know. I have C flute that I've been learning on and off for 3 years, and alto flute that I bought this August. I also have slow fingers. Do I take it that I'm not eligible?

Which notes can you play on the C flute, Liridona? That'll give Barry some idea if his arrangements will be suitable.

Hiya Liridona wave.gif

Having had a look through both your post here and in the flute choir thread, I'd say you'll be fine. You'll have company, with Babybird2 on flute as well, and I'll play the flute when rachi's conducting.

If you want to bring your alto, let me know, as I'll have to custom write you a few parts (all my music lacks parts in G). Have your C flute with you too, as I won't be able to write alto parts for everything.

Hope to see you there, and in a moment, you'll have mail. smile.gif

Liridona
ooooo thank you! Which notes can I play? on C flute up to G3. Alto is the same fingering but third octave is harder to play... wobbly at the moment.

Abney has no music in G either... I can transpose a part myself using noteworthy trial version at the moment. It's only a 30 day trial though.

Thanks biggrin.gif

G3? Comfortably more than enough range wise. smile.gif
Babybird2
I hope you're not expectig me to play notes much higher than G3 'cos they're a bit wobbly up there. And squeaky biggrin.gif

G3 is likely to be the upper limit Babybird2. You *might* get the odd low C/C# at the other end of the spectrum - do let me know if there's a problem there. smile.gif
SaxFan
sorry I can't make it to this one... I have an important engagement.... a concert smile.gif
Babybird2
I think I can manage low C# and C (just) tongue.gif

Cool - I'll avoid too many, low Cs on flute and a large orchestra don't really go...

Any more flutes coming? I'm going to play the flute during rachi's conducting session, but otherwise Babybird2 is on her own at the moment...
barry-clari
We have a 'cellist! hurrah.gif

...and another flautist (thanks for the application Liridona!) smile.gif

More applications to add to the 15 of us coming will be most welcome! smile.gif

Up to 17 musicians now. Getting much better on the bass front, still low on strings at the moment.

There's still time to get your forms in. Anyone who gets forms to me by the morning of Friday 7th November is guaranteed their own music pad. If you send your form in after this, you may have to share.

The last PO Box collection will be Wednesday 12th November. Therefore, unless I have talked to you and said otherwise, you must send your form in by the morning of Tuesday 11th November. smile.gif

That's too bad....
The train Barry and I will be on is the 9.42 Liverpool train from Stalybridge..... it stops a Eccles so no need to change to metrolink.

It's only a short stretch from Piccadilly while they re-lay some tracks. It's a 5 min. walk from the railway station up to Market Street where you can get a tram.

Trams to Eccles are running from Victoria/Market Street every 12 minutes on 15/11/08, according to the Metrolink website. smile.gif

As if I'd dream of doing that tongue.gif

Seriously though, it'll be a fun, low pressure day playing through stuff. Rachi and I will do a little rehearsing, but it'll be nothing too onerous. smile.gif

There are two things I need to mention.

There are no music stands at the venue, we have a few ourselfes but not enough, if anyone can bring a music stand it would be much appreciated.

Are people interested in eating after the event?

There us a pub quite close by that does food, we are going to eat there to try it sometime over the weekend. Sbhoa and I looked at it a while ago and there is a seperate dining area that we may be able ot have to ourselves.

If anyone needs a lift from the station just give me a nod and I'll sort something out.
