with great difficulty! My clarinet teacher said to slacken the mouth and try and roll your Rs, but I can't do it! I can barely manage triple tonguing! Doesn't really help for double reeds though!

Flutter tongue is to produce sumthing like a buzzing sound.
U hv to do triple tongue if u r playing triplets of at a high speed. [Ta-ka-ta Ta-ka-ta......]

No, in English, the sound only lasts a fraction of a section when you say "R" If you roll your Rs like you have to in Spanish, you can make the sound last a long time. When you say R in English, you have to move practically your whole jaw, but in Spanish, you relax your mouth and vibrate your tongue off the roof of your mouth. I think, from what my teacher was saying, that that's one of the ways to flutter tongue!
its so rock n roll

Just roll your R's while you play. You will get a buzzing type of sound! It's great fun for scales!

That's growling, not flutter tongue. Flutter tongue, by default, requires a tongue, not a throat!

My flute teacher told me that if you can't roll your Rs ( and I can't) that you can create the effect of flutter tonguing from the throat. I have to say that I haven't mastered this technique yet!
