For my flute I prefer the classical pieces more, but for piano I prefer pop/rock. Especially my immortal by evanescence, especially when my friends is singing it. Beautiful. smile.gif

Why do Baroque and Classical have to be in the same category? They are different genres of music.

I love Baroque and Renaissance music. wub.gif

sorri they're in the same genre because, i didn't have enough room and also because to the untrained ear they sound the same! tongue.gif rolleyes.gif but you can debate which one you like better for different reasons. Like personally I like classical because it's more neat and tidy (sounding) and baroque has so many rules (for Scarlatti)
liebe_klavier
baroque, classical and romantic....
cheeble
baroque... renaissance... classical... 20th century... jazz...
don't mind romantic but it gets a bit soupy at times smile.gif
pop is alright... rock is better... punk even more so... but i prefer the good old "classical" music that i can actually play without people saying i don't sound anything like the original singer tongue.gif laugh.gif

I like all rearranged music! biggrin.gif (different instruments, styles, etc.)
Saxophonist
I can't stand Romantic because I think it sounds all muddy

I don't have a favourite genre of music, I love them all!! I play cornet in a brass band and of course we never play just one genre of music, we play allsorts of different types of music, and I have to say I love nearly everything we play!! But then I am bonkers about my cornet and band so It doesn't suprise me really!!! biggrin.gif

All the jazz they play on the radio is all that smooth rubbish. Need more variety.

To play on flute, baroque, lots of loverly fast semiquavers that look and sound so impresive! smile.gif

Oh, and all those equally beautiful slow sections, yup, definetly baroque...
adrian_ehm
i like baroque music, especially Bach. It is really fun to take his music to extremely fast speeds, specifically those contrapuntal pieces with 2 or more melodies. Baroque music also follows certain rules wich make them easier to play, not like impressionistic music where the time signature is screwed up and tuneless melodies..hehe!
Classical music is nice to...romantic ok...i dun like modern music though, as in 20th century stuff..ultra weird rhythms tat are so hard to follow. However pop songs are nice, and al my frens play them so i kinda play them too. I chose baroque music by the way

I like mostly rock and metal (to listen to, as they're kinda hard to do on the flute lol) but not that stuff that has no tune at all, most of the artists I listen to are actually competant musicians, and some of the stuff (Like Nightwish for example http://www.nightwish.com/english/mp3 -samples) uses full orchestras in addition to the Vocals, guitar, bass & drums.

I love all music, could you imagine life with out it!? I would suck! lol tongue.gif
I like loads of new stuff, I'll even admit that I like rock/rap (rage agaisnt the machine!)
but I can get bored of it. One thing that I never seem to tire of is all types of classical/romantic. I also find 20th century minimalist, serialist stuff really fascinating.
I love to play rock jazz and pop on the piano, but I also love classical.
has anyone ever thought of moving sideways and playing rock violin!? I have my diploma in viloin now, and other than repetoire I would like to do something new, and I think that would be at least a laugh!! biggrin.gif

basically i like a little out of each, baroque for the note-neatness (straightfoward too), romantic for the emotion in the music, and jazz for the exceptional beat-count
is broadway music (phantom of the opera, cats etc) grouped in jazz?
Now with rap and all those hip-hop singing i think modern music is heading towards a tone-deaf direction.....anaemia for music!
Anyway, AB's effort in preserving and expanding the love for classical and jazz pieces should be praised!
