A friend of mine has been chasing it. They said it would be out at the start of August but now it seems it won't be out until the end of August. For some strange reason they won't publish it to the website until it has been to the printers. Very 21st Century of them. In actual fact, I think they were due to change the syllabus last August until there was a sudden change on the website which seemed to push it all back by 12 months.

When I got home last night I found a new syllabus had come through the post.

Where there used to be Performance and Recital options, now only the straight recital option is available (the one with no supporting exercises) but there is also a new Pro-Music one which I haven't looked at as yet, but initially seems a bit more convoluted.

I've only looked at the singing lists, but they do seem to have expanded the repertoire available there, which, from my point of view, means I might be able to avoid having to include any own choice items and therefore I won't need to submit my pieces for approval.

The thing I've always liked about the Trinity Diploma is you can chose your repertoire with or without the lists as long as it is of a standard they'll just say go on then have a go!

However, deciding what is of standard is rather tricky when one board sets a piece as fellowship and another sets it as grade 6 (to be fair I've only found one of these). Quite a number of DipAB and LRSM pieces turn up on Trinity's Grade 7 and 8 lists.

I asked them for it on the 12th and it turned up on 14th so people might as well as them for a hard copy in the post.

Seems like you don't have to include any of their set work pieces any more. That is a marked change...

As is the fact the programme durations DO NOT include breaks between pieces any more - the actual music itself must last between the specified limits - no more 'padding out' desperately with sips of water, tying shoe laces, gargling, talking to mum on the 'phone etc. wink.gif

Looking at the LTCL clarinet repertoire list, there now seems to be a large overlap with LRSM, so the vague possible programme that I'd sort of half toyed with (but without going anywhere near as far as actually committing to anything - or indeed even timing sort of possible, half-toyed-with programme) can now be presented for either LTCL or LRSM mellow.gif

I note that TG will accept LRSM as an FTCL substitute. Come on AB, accept LTCL as an FRSM substitute (and cascade this down as well!).

exactly. i can play quite a few FRSM pieces. I guess if this doesn't happen, I'll have to take FTCL instead of FRSM in the near future.

I don't think the ABRSM will issue a new dip syllabus to be effective before 2010 (the original was 2000 and revised for 2005)...
