Programme about Brendel is on beeb 2 now

I thought it was on tonight at 11.20 on BBC2 ! Have I missed it ? (sorry dont have a newspaper to hand)
So it is! I couldn't give it my full attention last night so I'll enjoy watching it properly tonight, it looked really good and they seemed to show quite a lot of him playing as well as talking

Last nights programme was more of a biography- speaking to Brendel and his family about how he came into music etc. A very good programme, but I struggled with his accent sometimes!
Tonights programme focuses on his playing, which includes Mozart among others. Well worth watching probably.

The whole series was excellent, wasn't it? Well worth taking the time to listen again if you can.

It was mainly introducing the three Choirs being used in the programme. They spoke to the conductors and members of the choirs to get their views about singing Messiah, and what it meant to them.
Hopefully it will be repeated again...

As an ex member of the Hudds Choral, the programme annoyed me a bit.... notleast due to references to 'THE Messiah'! It didn't go in depth around the history of the piece, but was more a selection of 'vox pops' about what it's like to sing it...

See the other thread on Bill Bailey about my experiments with downloading on iPlayer, as I downloaded the Purcell programme in this series last week. It was excellent, musically and as a documentary so I'm looking forward to catching up on the Handel one. INterestingly, last week's on Purcell is the only one on a British composer. Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn are the other three progs.

BBC Four Saturday 21.30 & Sunday 21.00
'How to be a composer'
Journalist, critic and self-confessed music addict Paul Morley embarks on a year-long pursuit to the heart of his obsession.
Morley begins a year of intense lessons and tutoring from one the most prestigious music schools in the world, the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he joins the composition department as an undergraduate student.
This is the first time Morley has been back in education since the age of 16, and it is by no means an easy year as he feels his way through his first lessons on rhythm and notation before finally composing his own music for an ensemble of young virtuoso musicians.
Might be worth a look!
