Barry has already referred to the new series 'Maestro', and Im sure of us will be watching it , and posting comments.
However I thought I would try to start a thread to alert forumites of upcoming interesting programmes, particularly as we have the Proms running as well at the moment.
I will try to maintain this as well as I can, but cant guarantee to do it every week. Normally I will try to do it Thurs/Fri for programmes the next week. I wont necessarily include repeats on such channels as Sky Arts, unless I think they are of particular interest, so the listing wont be comprehensive.
For Saturday 9th onwards:-
Sat 9th BBC2 6.30 Proms. 'Classic Jazz' Bernstein , Gershwin etc, cond by Charles Hazlewood
Sun 10th BBC4 7.30 Proms on 4 Kings Singers
Tue 12th BBC2 9.00 Maestro (series) 8 celebrities get trained as conductors !
Thurs 14th BBC4 7.30 Proms on 4, Haydn Schubert Brahms 4th (WestEast Divan Orch, cond Barenboim)

Yes - I was hoping someone would mention this concert. I especially appreciated the huge talent of the BBCCO percussionist (Alasdair Malloy) who played near the end of Michael Collin's performance. A short but I would say intensely difficult section with the vibraphone and I think marimba. The speed was just incredible. I enjoyed the fun elements of 'American in Paris' too. Not so keen on the world premieres - not quite my cup of tea

I recorded it and have just finished watching it. Unfortunately I missed off the end of An American in Paris, but at least it wasn't the end of Gwilym Simcock's Progressions - I thought that was superb, it kept me enthralled throughout. I really enjoyed Jason Yarde's "My Man's Gone Now" too.
Unlike BusyBee the premieres were, without a doubt, the highlight of the concert for me.

The Yarde piece was okay but I found the Simcock too much on one dynamic level - perhaps I missed something or wasn't listening properly!
