Discuss your day - in verse
(with all credit to singerpianist for giving me the idea...
)
QUOTE(Dulciana @ Sep 2 2008, 10:38 AM)

Skylark was up very early!
Her smile was wide and pearly.
Says she (methinks...

) "A verse per post
Would further us most,"
I agree it would - yes, surely...?
You're right I was up bright and early,
For a bath and to make my hair curly,
Had to set off at dawn
For a meeting this morn,
Now my mind is all of a whirly

If you want to continue this game,
Then the next line must rhyme just the same,
So how's your day been,
Are you wacked or serene,
And are you glad that to this thread you came

My day started off pretty badly,
I woke up this morning quite sadly.
Now I don't feel so rotten,
But my woes near forgotten,
I'll be going to bed rather gladly.

I'm glad that you're feeling much better
In spite of the weather that's wetter

Hope tomorrow goes well,
And do come and tell !

learn the Handel E-major or bust"
But the noise I created
when the tune modulated....
Makes me want to give up in disgust

I've got a sort throat and a cough,
Which is really cheesing me off
I've been bored with my work
And so tempted to shirk
It's my own fault for doing too much and not quite puling it off!

To spend a few ho-urs just chilling
But after some drilling,
My dentist was filling
My tooth, oh the pain - it was killing!

Today i did get up quite late,
in town a sausage sandwich i ate,
it i did drop,
t'landed with a plop,
therefore i gained no weight!
then a limerick did i write,
oh it was quite late at night,
yes it was great
or so said my mate
goodnight, time to turn out the light!

Today I performed a new song,
In front of a judgemental throng,
I was struck down by panic,
It was like the titanic,
'Cause it all went horrendously wrong
But now that it's written in verse
It seems somehow less of a curse
Although I was sad
That my song was so bad
I can tell that it could've been worse!

The day is sunny and bright
The flies, at last, have took flight
At my lesson today
what will Teacher say
As I have been playing* all night
some artistic variation - playing scans better than practising and evening would not have rhymed

Went surprisingly well I must say!
My teacher is great
For next week I can't wait,
In the meantime I've got lots to play.

Her verse or her mood do you mean?
For a nice bacon butty I've been
It's crispy and hot
And just hits the spot
Cos the bacon is fatty not lean

I need to be on top form,
And get the notes in my head.
But I'm still in bed

Glycerine you know works a treat
If not, some prunes you should eat
I'm glad I'm not near you
As I say that I fear you
Will surely break your loo seat.
I walked round the town for a minute
As walking's a pain right now innit?
With my stick I look old
But I feel brave and bold
Will be a shame come the day when I bin it.

But hey that's life,
Part fun, part strife,
I'll get it done if it's the last thing I do!

The grey brigade in Sainsbury's
Have a special knack
Of snagging every bargain
By hunting in a pack
With walking sticks as weapons
They charge on down the aisles
The light of battle soon replaced
By satisfaction smiles
As unsuspecting youngsters
are briskly swept aside
And another cut price item
Is a money-saver's pride
And then approach the checkout
Barge ahead of other shoppers
To pay what's left with vouchers
And a giant heap of coppers.

And when they stop to talk,
Their trolleys, they go crossways,
So past you cannot walk !

Sainsbury's for the ladies
Of the OLTVA?
No Dear, it's the mecedes
Owners who thier prices pay.
We spend our meagre pensions
At the market stalls, no less,
Not at that place you mentions,
'Cause their prices cause us stress.
Their skips are rather good though
On a Friday or weekend
When they've emptied date passed goodies,
But be sure to take a friend.
Let them fill the bags of goodies
As you hurl the spoils out.
But beware of local hoodies
Who may also be about.
And when you've shopped in Sainsbury's
And you, homeward wend your way
Just spare a thought for Addy.
And for Liddy and Great May.
Oops, Skylark, I'm off topic
For this this poem should be about
My day! I'm being myopic!
So I'll sit the next one out..

Another day at home alone,
Trading chemicals by email and phone,
But business is quite good just now
A big bonus I might earn, oh wow,
From my tight-arsed boss who smileth not,
A sense of humour he has not,
As all he does is moan and groan.,
And scowl and with me picks a bone.

Oh ecstasy! Oh joy sublime!
It's NCH collection time.
So off I go from door to door -
I've done it many times before -
In hopes my neighbours are soft-hearted
And from their money will be parted.
What's this I hear? Your wife is out?
I know that you're no lager lout,
But surely in the local pub
You'd buy a pint, or just some grub,
Without your wife to first say, "Yes".
You're just too mean to give, I guess.
"I have no change"; "It's not my house"
"I'm just as poor as a church mouse"
(Despite the Porsche upon the drive,
The envy of those at number 5.)
"My Mum's not in, so there's no hope";
"The dog has eaten the envelope."
So thanks to all good, kindly folk
Who know collecting is no joke;
Who fill the envelope with money,
And never seem to find it funny
To make you come another day
But then refuse to give their pay.

Today I got up early
For a student to come round
I wait and wait and wait and wait
But from her there's not a sound.
I 'phone her mum who says to me
"oh dear, she wants no more
I forgot to ring, I'll take the blame
it's all my fault I fear".
"I really ought to charge you
for wasted time, tis true"
"When I'm in town again next week
Your fee I'll bring to you."
I wait with baited breath
For the money to arrive
A loss of fee just means for me
It's harder to survive.
Should I return to work once more?
My back it tells me "no!"
It adds to my frustration
When students do not show!

Thank you, BM..just a moment of feeling sorry for myself!
To write a verse about my day
I need to be on form
If not the words will come out wrong
And then it doesn't make sense
And becomes a muddle
That doesn't work at all
Then I can't think of anything to...
err....write..
you see this is a mess

Playing in the skittles team never is a bore
We have some fun but then again, we really aim to score
We played at home last week and were so pleased that we had won
Tonight we thrashed The Olive Bush - cor, what a load of fun!
The lady I was playing had never played before
Methinks she lied, nine was her average score!
I kept my cool, and played my best, with hardly any fear,
I won my match ... pure skill ? Oh no!... rather too much beer!

Today I awoke feeling really quite ill,
so stayed in bed and slept, until
the realisation did suddenly hit me -
I've not walked the dog. And so I took pity.

Went out in the rain, not for long, must be said,
came back indoors and returned to my bed.
I feel really lazy, it must seem like a skive,
but if I had any energy I would definitely rise.
In fact, I've got cleaning and packing to do...
*tries to get up* oh dear...
achoo
The afternoon's nearing, I do need to move.
That I've done something, to my mother I really must prove.
But where to begin? I don't know where to start.
For lunch soon my father from work will depart.

I'd better get moving, and sort myself out,
although I'd rather stay here; of that there's no doubt.
