What on earth is 'paganini bowing'? It's marked on my newest study and I havent got a clue.

All i know about paganini is that hes some random violin dude person who used to play a piece in a concert and purposely break 3 of his strings and finish the rest of the piece on one string...

Paganini had his own school of violin technique, including bowing.

He developed the 'richochet' style of bowing - literally bouncing the bow by letting it rebound on and off the string under its own momentum; much in the same way as a ball would bounce. So the markings you talk of could refer to that, but without actually seeing them or knowing exactly what is printed on the page, I wouldn't like to say for sure.

Have word with your teacher before you start playing it, but it looks like you've got a new bowing technique to master, as well as a study smile.gif
