Full Version: Beethoven's Last Piano Work?

I read in the newspaper the other day (can't remember where or when but early this week blush.gif) that a sketch of what appears to be Beethoven's last piano work has recently been discovered. It was written in late 1826, so only a few months before he died. It was called Bagatelle in F minor and unfortunately unfinished with only 30 or so bars available. Still, I think it would have turned out to be a pretty miniature had Beethoven finished it. Have a look/listen here

PS> I wonder how anyone could make out the notes from that! Beethoven's handwriting was really really bad...

Thanks for the link Panthera!
Quite enjoyed listening to it!
I agree with your P.S. though biggrin.gif

Sounds rather trivial to me compared with his last Sonatas ! It bears comparison with Schuberts little Moment Musical in same key of F Minor.
Actually F minor was a rare key for Beethoven to use, though His first piano sonata Op2 No1 is in that key

Hmmm..poor Ludwig on a rare off day by the sounds of it.

Mind you, he had a habit of starting sketches and then disgarding them until a later date. Maybe this is an early piece that has been added to in 1826?

Thanks for posting it, Panthera.
