Just done Grade 7 Piano (22nd Sept.) (done well except aurals!)
Getting my results in early November

What are they? could you specify the composers and pieces? I don't want to check it on the web.^^"
I think it is a good habit for us to know the name of the composers and the pieces for all pieces you learnt (even better to know those pieces you don't know! biggrin.gif )

By the way, maybe C3 Schumann's intermezzo: No.4 from "Faschingsschwank aus Wien" Op.26
or C9 Debussy's Arabesque No.1 in E
piano_dentist
The Mendelssohn Scherzo (15) - Definitely worth a look

I know where to check. laugh.gif

perhaps I should say, for a person who learns music, he/she must have to know the composer, background and the genre of the pieces(may not be ok if he/she is too young). It is not a good habit to write A1, A2, B5, etc.

Hi laugh.gif
I recommend C1. It has a nice melody to it and it isn't that technically challenging. That makes it more pleasurable to play.
Freedom
The Liszt piece is brilliant, a real chance to let go. I recommend it.

Sorry: this is insuffient to decide because there's two votes for C1 and two votes for C4 at the time of writing this!

Surely you're not seriously going to make a decision based on this poll. If anyone could tell you which piece to play without knowing anything about you and your playing then there would only need to be one piece and the same one would obviously be the best one for everyone...

Try them out and see which one you like best or are best at playing and go for that one.

i've put this in a previous notice but the Autumn crocus is one of the most lovely pieces i have come across in a long time
tannie
I am not saying C4 is pretty and cool to play, but if you are planning to do the exams soon - by the end of this year - better choose C4 as it can be *finished* (or secured) with less practising time.
Mr. Curious
I recommend Schumann's Intermezzo, Debussy's Arabesque and Chopin Polonaise.
But the Polonaise is a lil bit harder and longer than the others.

My teacher has been having a look at that one, but as I have small hands he doesn't think it will really suit me.

Well my decision won't only rely on this but also what each piece sounds like on the CD (which I haven't got yet), you get the idea.

I'm afraid this won't be so easy. I think it might be somewhere on the website or as listed somewhere else.

Hi - I'm preparing for grd8 at the moment and for the C list I'm doing Barcarolle by Faure. It's lovely I really do like it. I did have trouble choosing from the C list though. Had a go at the Poulenc Nocturne in C Major which was really difficult and quite stretchy - I think I will learn it properly one day but just not for this exam.
debussy_fanatic
I like C1, C6 and C9 but wouldn't play them in an exam situation- I'm just trying to decide whether to work on the Faure Barcarolle, or Castillas by Albeniz (C7). I'm leaning towards Castillas, because it's such a lively, rhythmic piece- and have never tried playing anything like it before, so it should be a challenge (and it's not stupidly hard either).

By the way- does any Spanish speaker have a translation of the title?

Hi smile.gif

Looked it up: Castilla is a region of central Spain; a former kingdom that
comprised most of modern Spain and united with Aragon to form Spain in 1479.

Who knows what it sounds like? I've heard that it's a really nice piece. I like C8, 9 and 10.
crazy_purple_piano_freak
im doing the liszt but i REALLY wanted to do the autumn crocus one but i have small hands. The poulenc is gorgeous too.

haha yeah right, I guess even people with big hands couldn't play a chord that big...big it's surely a nice piece.

Why not have a think about C1?? I reckon it's the nicest one out of the list.
tris54
I really want to do the polonaise... but im afraid it's easier to do the arabesque by debussy, however i think ill sitll work ont he polonaise in my free time
