Hi

I just wondered if there is anyone else on here that is going to the Andrew Quartermain Procorda Adult Piano course this October.

It would be nice to know a name before I get there, as although I am very excited I am very nervous too.

Also if there is anyone out there that has been before and can tell me what to expect would be great. I have never been on anything else like this before.

I cannot comment on the adult course, but my daughter attends Pro Corda. So I can only tell you that it is a very wonderful, magical place, food excellent. The place is very clean and well cared for.

Andrew is a lovely man and having spoken to some adults that have been, they were all delighted.

I too have no experience of this course but I know Andrew and he is excellent!

Thanks Pudding and Cyrilla. I have heard before how good Andrew's courses and having spoken to Andrew I can see already what a nice man he is.

What I would really like is for someone to give me an idea of what I should wear for day and evening dress, I have written and asked Andrew but waiting to hear back.

Because this is something that I have never done before I am feeling a little naive about things.

Evening dress!?! ohmy.gif

I'm intrigued! laugh.gif Sorry ET, I've never been to Pro Corda so don't know about dress etiquette. In other piano courses I've done (Benslow, Chets, Jackdaws) people live in t-shirt/jumper with jeans throughout - even skirts are rare...

I've done a course at Benslow and quite a few other non-music courses. Most people seem to travel light and wear as little change of clothing as possible! As Panthera says, some people live in jeans throughout, others are a little more smart/casual or change for dinner, but usually only into something equally casual but, erm, fresher ill.gif biggrin.gif I'd be surprised if your course was much different, and I think they would probably give some indication if they wanted people to dress up. Hope you have a great time there, it sounds as if you will smile.gif

Having had a look at the Pro Corda website, I can see why Eldatom is concerned about the dress code. It looks a little more up-market than your average adult course. Most do not include "Evening Candle-lit Dinner Concerts" and "a chance to perform in the Evening House Concerts". The best way to find out is to ask the organisers!.

Hi thanks for answering, what I should have said is Evening attire as I didn't actually mean an evening dress as I don't think I could cope with having to take one of them along with me.

Hi Skylark

I like the idea of travelling light as I don't want to be lugging along too much on the train and underground.

Hi thank you Suepea, I have asked a couple of times in an email about the dress attire but this hasn't been answered yet, which is why I thought I would ask here and see if anyone else was going or has been before. What I have done now though is asked in a letter with some other questions along with my cheque for the balance that needed to be paid. Hopefully I will get a reply shortly.

Good luck! I would be very interested to hear about your experiences with the weekend when you get back. smile.gif

You could always play safe and take along a plain wrap dress on something similar that you could dress up a bit more if you need to in the evenings. The candle lit suppers remind me of Hyacinth Bucket! Have lots of fun! smile.gif
