Thanks for that. A 'must buy' for me . Stephen was born here in Heswall
He really is one of the best British pianists for Romantic repertoire (Dont forget his wonderful Rcahmaninov Concerto set) smile.gif

I chose his Liszt CD as a leaving present when I changed departments at work c. 1990. It's wonderful - it was new repertoire to me and the sequence of the pieces has a cumulative effect.
Good to hear of the recognition he's receiving.

That must be his most recent Hyperion release then, which i think was Mozart ? The last one i got of his was the Spanish Album, which i'd strongly recommend...there's pieces by Albeniz, Mompou, Granados etc as well as non Spanish composers who've written pieces inspired by Spain...one of his own compositions On Falla is at the end and is an absolute corker...recently got the music for it. He's also a very talented arranger, on his Double Disc the Piano Album from Virgin Classics, there are quite a few arrangements of some of his favourite old songs. They happened to be available in a book of Houghs arrangements which i snapped up as soon as i saw it in Chappells, Roger Quilters the Fuschia Tree is a real gem...as well as Granville Bantocks Song to the the Seals, a captivating arrangement. Also brilliant versions of the Kashmiri Song and the Crimson Petal. Thanks to Hough, I 've discovered many pieces from his album collections, that i'd otherwise never known about.
