I have a piano pupil who has been working towards her Grade 3 using the pieces in the 2007-2008 syllabus. I have to decide whether to enter her for the exam today for Nov/Dec wink.gif . I think with all the other committments she has, she won't be ready. Could anyone confirm if she would be able to sit the exam in Spring 2009?

I think she can still use the same pieces but she will have to use the new scales/arpeggios (if anything has changed).

Is this right about having to use the new scales / arpeggios? I thought that I had read this before but my teacher said I have to do the old syllabus if I go for the pieces from the old syllabus. I really would like this clarifying rather than having to make sure that I learn everything from both books?

I was going to do my Grade 4 exam November/December but in the end we decided against it as there wasn't much time if I got a slot straight after half term and I still needed to work on some of the scales and arpeggios and of course - aural.

Therefore I plan to do mine in the spring and know that I must do it in the spring as I can't find a "C" piece that I like from the new syllabus.
