I have tons of ABRSM and other books for theory from approx grade 5 and up, but I want to start our son off with some easy theory asap.

Anyone know good web sites, preferably where I can print out the pages?

I wouldn't use much by way of books or worksheets in the early stages.
Talking about the things he is playing will help to avoid some of the separation between practical and theory.
Just use manuscript paper for writing clefs and notes.
Flashcards can be used for note naming and some playing with rhythm can be fun and useful.

Practice Spot has some resources.
There was a site that had interesting manuscript paper to print (things like wavy lines) but I can't locate it right now.

Thanks everybody.

Now I just have to continue and teach him that pp doesn't mean the composer needed to visit the loo and clef isn't a posh word for Beachy Head!

PS who thought for many years that s*x was those things in which rich people had their coal delivered!

As long as he know that said composer crept off very quietly so that no one would notice him then it's fine. smile.gif
I taught a 15 year old who had all sorts of strange and silly ways of remembering performance directions.
