Please please please will the Forum member who borrowed some music from me over a year ago return it? I have three incomplete copies of some of my favourite works now and don't want to replace them. Please pack them up and post them back asap. This is a rat's last hope!

If they have been lost I would prefer to know please. If not get thee to a post office!
Yes, they do know who they are and despite PMs and texts and the assurance that they would be here last Friday I am still without them.
Ah well, plenty worse things happen I suppose.

Yes, but you've been without the books if you've needed them, and if you don't get them back you'll have to go to the expense and inconvenience of re-stocking them. Like David says, you end up being reluctant to lend things out so they spoil it for others which is a shame

or take them to small claims court

I wouldn't do that but I am tired of promises that they will come.
I will send yet another pm and then write them off as another loss.

Aw

If they just haven't got round to it, perhaps another member who lives close by could collect them and pass them over to you at the next meet-up?

Yes, so do I. I can't think of a single reason why she wouldn't, unless they are priceless limited editions?
petrat
Oct 1 2008, 10:44 PM
No, not priceless limited editions, just rather good Green Man editions. I have sent one more PM and I hope to receive them very soon.

I think I recall the person being mentioned by name in an earlier thread when Petrat was trying to get the music back - they know who they are ...

Oh dear. Poor petrat...
Do you have their numbers, or addresses? Maybe calling them on the phone would help? Perhaps they have been unable to come online?
I know that some people are a little absent-minded. I believe nobody would try to steal music in such a manner, right? *fingers crossed*

said forum member is me. So stop speaking in code.
I refound the music about a month ago. Indeed the initial plan was to return the music at my concert, but Ratty could not go. The next plan was to return the music whilst I was in her neck of the wood in Wales, but that didn't work out either.
I haven't exactly been posting very readily recently. Two reasons. At the beginning of September I spent most of my time tooing anf frowing to Addenbrooke's hospital with episcleritis and a deterioration to my sight. I was also right out of C4 envelopes. The result was a return of quite crippling depression. Just as things were looking up, I had a fall and cracked my coccyx. I purchased the envelopes on Friday.
Throughtout this time I have had the music sitting on top of my piano ready to post. The only reason I cannot post it today, is my unreasonable husband has taken all my payment methods away and I have less than fifty pence in my purse. I will however have the whole lot packed up ready for dispatch.
Petrat's last missif, said why could I not request a family member to post my letters for me. On Thursday I did, and my 7 year old son duly scooted off to the local post box and posted all my letters.
With my nine-year old barred by me from the post office after he stole from me to pay for sweets I will have to visit the post office. However I will need some money to pay the postage costs.
Sometimes family life is more complicated than it may appear.
Since Petrat kindly asked me to return the music it has always been my intention. Do you know what it is like to have two school age children and wonder if you are loosing your eye sight?
Do you know what is like to have to function on a combination of either tramadol or oromorph, and paracetamol at a very minimum. To have to spend the previous ten days mainly curled up in a ball when you are trying to run a teaching business, look after a house and two children, let alone see you 94 year old grandfather go into hospital and return home requiring a great deal of help from the district nurses?
This is on top of Fibromyalgia?
I find this so petty.
Yes Petrat I have received your messages, and as soon as I can purchase the postage, you can get your music back.

I ended up paying the postage myself in order to get some of my music sent back to me by one forum member. And I was a bit surprised when I eventually received the package to see that the postage was quite a bit less than I'd paid. But it was worth it to get it back, although a certain amount of goodwill was lost in the process, particularly because the delay meant that the music wasn't much use in the end because it arrived too close to a deadline to use it.
jod, you sound as if you're having a very difficult time, and depression can make even the smallest job seem like an insurmountable hurdle. I hope things improve for you before long and that you and Petrat can sort something out about the music. Best wishes.

Thank you skylark. I pass the local post office today when I collect a prescription. I have the envelope packed. I just wonder if I should go tidy a few rooms looking for small change to see if I can find enough money for the postage. The one thing that is sacrisanct is the kids pocket money.

Petrat's music was sent first class and recorded delivery from my local Post Office this morning.
Petrat has been far more understanding about this matter than many other posters on this thread.
Currently I cannot drive due to the fentanyl patch my GP prescribed yesterday, yet I had to visit both Cambridge and Newmarket and spent rather a lot of time being bounced about on a bus, which with a broken coccyx is not fun.
I am trying to get on and cater to the whims of my family whilst fitting in other jobs. Even before reading the thread on Monday, it was my intention to send the music either yesterday or today. I had run out of C4 envelopes, and was having difficulty shopping. Reading the thread left me in tears at a very trying time.
