This thread is to discuss get-togethers/playdays in Northern Ireland for 2009, as arranged by noodle, Andy-piano-flute, and with just an occasional sprinkling of barry-clari influence from time to time!

As things are planned, details will appear here, but there are get-togethers planned for Saturday 30th May and sometime in mid/late August too.

The intention noodle is this.

May : very informal, very chilled get together, I'll bring some bits and pieces of music we can have a play through.

August : similar, but maybe a teeny weeny bit bigger.

Both May and August would be mainly directed at getting Northern Irish musicians (so other people you and apf know too) to come together and talk and play music.

And that'd be about it!

And then maybe a big forum gig again in August 2010?

Having met noodle again last weekend, it's looking good for a couple of very informal get togethers in Northern Ireland on both Saturday May 30th and sometime in w/c August 17th. Barry-clari will be present with a pile of music at both get togethers.

Cheap plane tickets now available for May 30th!!!! ....will have to think about how long to stay in NI...

Find your diary, put Saturday 30th May in it, and reserve the first half of the week commencing 17th August. This is when the two Northern Ireland events will take place.

They're both going to be informal playdays where you'd bring your oboe (assuming that from the thread in Viva Woodwind) and participants would play through a load of music (mainly from my extensive library), and generally have a good time!

I'm hoping to organise more than just these two events, so do keep your eye on this thread. Thank you for showing interest, hope you can make it on 30th May!

Noted Depends on where I'm going for uni in September (if it's France then I might not be able to go) but if I can get cheap tickets over for the days then I'll be there!

Yes but if we plan to go to France then we have to go over the summer to move into the new house, visit schools etc etc... so I would have to get plane tickets over. I see from your profile that you've been to Carrick-a-rede - great, isn't it?! We Northern Irish have such amazing tourist spots I love that area though, it's great for walking

I'll keep you updated on the Northern Ireland events, the aim is to have 2/3 events each year, and I intend to be at all of them.

Not a forum event, but local forumites may be interested in a playday organised by the Ulster Orchestra, on Sunday 5th April, from 2:30pm-6:30pm, in Ulster Hall, Belfast. It's a chance for any orchestral musician of grade 4 level or higher, to rehearse and perform with the Ulster Orchestra.

It looks a great event, it's a shame I won't be back in Northern Ireland 'til the following month...

Closing date is January 5th, the website is here. Be aware though that places for both flute and violin are likely to fill before the closing date.

I'm coming to Northern Ireland from August 17th - 20th.

Plan is to meet forumites, do a bit of touring, playing, that sort of thing.
