Hi guys!

I am hopefully going to sit my DipABRSM next summer and am currently organising my programme. I am choosing pieces in conjunction with my university end of semester exams in the hope that my DipABRSM programme will cover me for both i.e. dry run!!! Anyhow, I have been a bit silly and chosen a couple of pieces from the LRSM list (Hindemith and Schmann) without it occurring to me that you may not be able to perform pieces not on the specific DipABRSM list. I know that you can have your own choice from outwith the list to a total duration of 7 mins, but since these are on a "higher up" exam list can you use them without counting them as a substitute? Or do I have to choose all over again sad.gif ?

Any thoughts?

Yes, pieces from a higher level diploma still count as a substitute (I asked the Diploma department of the Board this exact question a few months ago). So do you have other 'own choice' pieces as well? If not, then it shouldn't be a problem - unless the Hindemith and Schumann last more than seven minutes.

One thing that might be worth considering is that a recital at university could possibly count as a prerequisite for the LRSM, so you may not have to do both - but you'd need to check this (and may not want to jump straight to Licentiate level, of course).
