...will take place on Saturday 21st February 2009, and the venue will be published on a website which will appear here, 2/3 weeks after the Teddington website has been online.

This event is a phantasmagoriana presentation. smile.gif

It will follow the Harborough model, ie we'll play through a load of ensemble music, then retire to a restaurant/pub/wherever to eat and drink. smile.gif

This thread is for discussion of the above event. Hope lots of you can come! smile.gif

Applications now open! Website/form is here

Whoo hoo!!! The end of half term. I'll probably be in Darlington anyway - so not far to get to. Excellent date!

I really hope to make this event as I've never been to a forum playday before. smile.gif

Still interested. Sounds do-able but is very close to my daughter's birthday so will depend on what we are doing for that. However, that will probably be the weekend afterwards. Like an earlier poster I've never been to one of these before so anyone let us know how it works? Do we just turn up with instrument/s in tow or what?

Any chance of knowing in advance what area of York the venue is? Will it be in Central York or what? Just asking so I work out transport.
Miss Ross
'Tis a possibilty... smile.gif Depending on..er...things!

Yes, in a nutshell! The music will come from my extensive orchestral/flexi ensemble collection. Come, play, and enjoy yourself. smile.gif

Any chance of a piano?

As with Eccles, it's an orchestral playday, and as such it's not aimed specifically at pianists. Having said that, there is a piano there, and we may be able to use it. I'll let you know. smile.gif

There are computery problems at the moment at katyjay's end, the web pages are in katyjay's inbox and will be put online as soon as the computery problems at katyjay's are resolved.

Apologies for the delay.

The site is now up and running again, after some security problems with the hosting company. There are a few gremilins which I will be fixing over the next few days.

Babybird2 does indeed become the first entry for the 1st York playday, as indeed she was for the 1st Eccles playday as well. Collected the form and payment this morning. smile.gif

Thanks Babybird2! smile.gif

As with Eccles, I can take entries pretty much up to the last-ish minute, and certainly anyone who applies by Monday 16th February will have a place. smile.gif

biggrin.gif

The playdays are designed to encourage local musicians, as well as people who frequent this forum, to come along and have fun making music - so if you can get some of your band to come along, that'd be great! Phantasmagoriana will be extensively publicising the event locally. smile.gif

Hope you're able to make it DawnF! smile.gif

Of course! biggrin.gif Would be great to see some local players there - I'm going to start putting posters up in York after Christmas, and will be publicising it to the group I play in too. smile.gif

STILL can't make it, I'm afraid - I'm in York only Tues-Thurs this term. Bother.

Hi Phantasmagoriana! I'll look out for the posters.

May have recruited a couple of fellow band menbers.

I'll be doing one more collection from the PO Box before Christmas - then won't be collecting again 'til the very early part of the New Year, so if you do send your application in between Christmas and the New Year, I'll apologise in advance for the late confirmation of your place at York.

Cheap rail tickets from the south to York are now available - bought mine yesterday biggrin.gif

Babybird2
Have lots of people sent their forms in yet? party1.gif
barry-clari
Still on the thin side Babybird2, but with Christmas and New Year only just gone, I'm not surprised - phantasmagoriana is beginning the big local push as of about now. smile.gif
Miss Ross
Should it require a 'push'? Shouldn't events be a success more or less off their own backs without them being continually forced at people? Although I suppose the playday is within 7 weeks of another event, so going by previous arguments should be deemed to not be a success anyway. That's not to say this one won't be, I'm just curious as to the difference in responses to this event and the one held in Leeds on the 9th February last year. smile.gif
