Does anyone know of a website or a way of explaining these to a year 12 class that's not complicated? I have to teach harmony to them, and they're on cadential progressions and I'm a bit stuck...

From what I remember the passing 6/4 is used as a way of avoiding consecutives by having the bass move in contrary motion with the melody. Would this be a starting point for you?
