Hello Everyone
The fifth year of Adult Learner Concerts organised by members of these forums kicks off with the event at Teddington on 7th February 2009
Details are available from the website
here. Closing date for entries is 5th January 2009
Please come and support the adult learners who have made these concerts such a success over the years.
Teachers: This event is open to your adult pupils even though they are not themselves Forums members, please encourage them to come along and make the most of an opportunity to perform in front of an incredibly sympathetic audience who are all sharing the same experience.
Cheers

For info, until katyjay updates the contact link.
The email address on the website for me is now defunct - it got spammed to oblivion so I simply deleted the whole thing. If anyone should need to contact me in the meantime about the location etc. of the concert, please PM me.
Katyjay will either contact me direct to confirm the update on the website, or make an announcement on here.
Thanks

Just my luck! I thought I'd checked every single link, but obviously that's the one that got away....
Sorry Amanda, will fix it shortly.

That date is perfect as I'm attending a viola workshop at Benslow the following day. I just need to learn a piece and...

I have a gaggle of adult students at the moment who would really benefit from more performance experience - I'll try to persuade some of them to come.

Hi Will
It is an opportunity for adult learners to play to each other. We rehearse in the morning, then have the concert for each other plus family and friends in the afternoon.
Have a look at the website for further details. Link's in the first post of the thread.

Is it that time of year already?
There are a couple of other things which I might have to do on 7th February, but if I can get out of them, I'll be there, and might even inflict some ropey piano-playing on you all.

see you

What do you play, Will?

I'm seriously considering coming, katyjay, though it's a bit scary. What is the piano like at Bushy House? Is it a grand or an upright?

It's a Steinway grand, BMum, but a friendly, lived-in one.

I haven't decided yet whether I'm singing or playing, but if it's playing I'll be keeping you company on the working-towards-Grade-8 stuff.

I'm really tempted but we're going to the Met opera screening that evening and it starts at 6pm so I'll have to leave before 5 (to get to Notting Hill Gate in time). What time does the concert normally finish? Would it be rude if I leave early?

We are usually done by about 5 so you should be ok.

Just to say I'm sorry, but something else has come up for 7th February now, so I won't be able to make it. I don't know whether I would have had the confidence to come anyway, so maybe it's partly that I've chickened out!
Hope you all have a good day anyway. Maybe I'll make one of these events later on next year.

That's a pity. Keep an eye on the '09 calendar to see if there's any other event you want to come to.

Also, I can confirm that sbhoa and I are officially coming. I handed both forms, and payment, to katyjay today.

I was really hoping to be one of them again this time, having missed the last Teddington concert, but it's clashed with an unmissable chamber music weekend with friends at Belstead (Ipswich). That's been a highlight of our musical calendar since some time in the 1970s! I hope you will all have a great time again. I had my (virtual) fingers crossed that Teddington would be the previous weekend.

People who need accompaniments need to have made up their minds and let both me and the accompanist know within a week of the closing date for applications - and let the accompanist have the pieces.
People who don't need accompaniments, I am prepared to stretch to a week before the event itself, as I then have to do the draw and the programme.
Thanks
