Anyone interested? I have been given a quantity of sheet music to 'find a good home for'. It has come from the loft of a very elderly lady who had not been up in the loft for at least 60 years. I have retained a few pieces for myself and my music group, but have 2 very full bags of music to dispose of - free. Examples are;
Chu Chin Chow - comlete for voice/s and piano accompaniment.
Strauss waltz arrangements - voice & piano.
Lots of albums for voice & piano from early 20th century.
Some very old piano albums (earliest signed 1882).
A large bagful of arrangements (mostly for mixed voices) of cantatas, early english folk songs, North countrie ballads, shanties, etc., etc..
Also some old monologues with piano accompaniment - not very PC by modern standards, in fact simply not allowable!
I would prefer to pass the whole collection on and could probably deliver them in Yorkshire (within reason) or the Headingley day on 3rd January. This music is too good to throw away, please post or PM me if you are interested

This a very generous offer, oldnotes, thank you to you and the lady who owned the music.

If no-one else takes up your offer, the Yorkshire College of Music could benefit enormously from it as they would offer it for sale in their Library in aid of college funds (as you know the college is a charitable trust). But this might not be what you or your friend had in mind.

I pricked up my ears at the albums for voice and piano from the 1920s as I like and collect popular music from that era, but not classical I'm afraid.

I love piles of old music and would certainly be interested in the monologues for our End of the Pier Show next year and some of the other stuff too. Perhaps if Skylark collects it I can have a few pickings from it?

I'd be interested in taking the remainder ... my mother lives in Harrogate and I'd like to go through and nab what I fancy and would take the rest to the Oxfam shop ... would that be OK?

Thanks to those who posted and PMd me. I am passing all the music to Skylark in the next couple of days who, after taking her pick, is passing them on to Petrat. I have advised them both of who else is interested.

Well I've spent a lovely afternoon working my way through the bags of music which oldnotes left with me smile.gif

Thank you ever so much oldnotes, and for the lovely afternoon with you and Mrs oldnotes last Sunday smile.gif I'm going to take some of the piano music with me to my lesson next week to see if my teacher thinks any of it is suitable for me to play at the Leeds concert on 3rd Jan biggrin.gif

Hopefully I'll be meeting up with Petrat shortly - as soon as her new recorder is ready for collection.

Thanks again - it's very generous of you smile.gif
