Hope you enjoy playing your new instrument, Violin Hero. It always surprises me how much good bows cost, but people say they are essential.
Have lots of fun practising!

Cool! Have lots of fun with it!
Son Viohazard tried out quite a few Yamaha carbon bows the other day at the Tokyo Stringed Instrument Fair, and liked them.
It was awfully noisy, and he was playing on a silent violin with earphones, but he reckoned that as far as he could tell in the circumstances, apart from the very cheap bows at the very bottom of the range, they were easy to control and very playable, and he felt there wasn't a huge difference between the various grades until you hit the two top-of-the-range "signed original" models.

I liked the violin a lot when I played it for an hour at home.
However I was not totally sure about the string choice pf domianants. Is it worth considering other strings or not?

Funny you should say about the string choice.
I bought a new violin a few months ago and it doesn't have dominants on it but I was used to haveing those.
I'm considering putting dominants on but I'm not totally sure how much difference it will make as I've not been playing long enough to hear different strings on the same violin.
Congratulations on the new instrument!

As a listener, not a player, why not replace the Dominant E with a good quality E string and leave Dominants on the other strings for say 1-3 months (depending on how long you play each day)? Dominants are a good, reliable, baseline, and by then you will have an idea of how your violin normally sounds, and also how you WANT it to sound.

Congratulations Violin Hero! Enjoy your lovely new fiddle and bow (and case too).
Why not put a recording on youtube for us to hear it in action? Good way of baptising it!

Funny thing is the woman at the shop said some people leave the e string dominant and change the 3 other strings.
I think I will keep it as is for now.
