Hi

Does anyone know of a good edition of this piece in single sheet music?
For piano.

And also Debussy's Deux Arabesques?

Thanks in advance!

I have the Boosey and Hawkes edition. But it is a very difficult piece - in terms of keyboard gymnastics. I can't play it properly (and some parts I can't play at all). They also do a simplified piano solo arrangement of the famous slow variation (whose number I forget).

These are a bit easier! I think the least expensive is from UMP (United Music Publishers) with a glosssy, hard-wearing cover. Durand do an expensive edition. The two Arabesques are also included in the Konemann Urtext of "Children's Corner & Individual PIeces" . This is great value if you can find a copy. As well as Children's Corner complete and the two Arabesques it contains 17 other pieces, including classics like Reverie, Nocturne, L'Isle Joyeuse, Valse romantique, Le Plus Que Lent, Masques, and Elegie.

It's the 18th Variation, and the only part of it i play...there are two arrangements for solo piano, both by Boosey and Hawkes, the one with the picture of the composer on the front is a more recent version, and i think it's the better of the two.

Not sure about this site. The Paganini looks from the page numbering to have been copied from a published volume, so not sure about its legality?

Can anyone tell me if this is the original version, that is not simplified?

I've looked at this. It's oversimplistic, playable, sounds reasonable. Personally i would go for either of the B&H legit versions.

It is a simplified arrangement of just the 18th variation

I printed this off and played it, it's very easy!. It's a simplified arrangement but sounds quite nice, a bit "Maximish". If you want to impress a few friends over Christmas drinks blush.gif , this may well do the trick as long as they are not pedantic music critics. It's not a serious study (c.f. B&H editions), but it is fun to play. Thanks for posting the link.
