We are all delighted!
Marvellous! Many congratulations!

One more result. 100 for a grade 5 sax. She could have done much better but didn't make the exam a priority when she needed to. At least it's done and I know she can play much better! (I hope her mum realises that too). Still waiting on three more...

My first time of posting on this site and the first time in many years of teaching I've been able to celebrate a pupil achieving Grade 8 Distinction (132 marks. !!). He thoroughly deserves it - especially welcome for both of us as all his previous results have been in the upper Merit range.

One more result. 107 for a Grade 5 clarinet pupil. She took Grade 3 sax at the same time and got 92% on that (Salford Certificate rather than AB like her clarinet exam), so overall very happy!
Also, the pupil I mentioned before who got 100 on her sax exam has pulled out of lessons with me apprently...not very happy.
2 more results to go!

Well done! at least you'll get a chance to take the pupils forward and build their technique to increase strengths. You haven't been teaching them very long so this will be a good chance to set an agenda.

I should have posted my final result before Chirstmas. The Grade 4 singing pupil, my son 87.
It has served as an important lesson. You can help a child as much as you like, but if they don't practice they won't pass. Also he was being a little over-ambitious!
He's not re-entering this session, but will have another go at an exam when he is ready.
He still could have passed, but he did need to put the work in himself.

Grade 1 flute with distinction (138).
Totally not sure how that one happened, since I started playing the flute in Sept, but ridiculously pleased all the same. I blame the teacher - he must be pretty good.

Grade 1 cello distinction (131) and grade 3 violin merit (127).
Merit kid really annoyed at herself as only just scraped a pass in sightreading, apparently has not stopped practising all christmas! Never thought I'd see the day!
just entered my next lot, including myself on grade 5 cello...

The local reps are a funny pair- I think they sit on the results for a while..... and they won't divulge them on the telephone as they are not allowed apparently. They also appear not to be answering the phone atm.......
WE've tried a few times over the last 10 days. I will try again and then the board.
The exams were running over 1 hour late on the day..........

Well- the teacher made a complaint about the result- and the exam. He had had to wait for 1 hr 15 mins. The results took so long. The other pupil taking an exam (same Grade) was a very nervous older girl- and she just scraped a pass. Both got distinctions last time (96% for my son). Also- many of the negative comments were about supporting breath and apparently that's Grade 4 criteria not grade 3. The results took longer than 4 weeks (which LCM states they will take at most)
The mark sheets apparently were passed on to the chief examiner and apparently he has decided (how I don't know) that my son should have a distinction and the other girl a merit. How weird is that? Has anyone else had anything like that happen? (he was only a couple of marks off a distinction, but......)
My only experience as a teacher is with the ABRSM and I know this would never happen with them!! I'm not complaining but how can the chief examiner just decide to award a distinction???????
Of course I'm pleased- but hey?????

Perhaps it's something the CE should be able to do in cases where it's proven that the examiner has not acted fairly. I suspect that there has been a proper investigation rather than lip service undertaken.
The AB system is just not acceptable in these circumstances when only a resit at the next session is on offer, and if the results are late, then the candidate may be working on other things so it's not worthwhile.
I don't think either system is ideal.
