Yes , really exciting and my students screamed down the phone!!!

I'm starting to feel my confident judging pupils levels now which makes the whole process more comfortable.

Just got my pupils' results back, 2 passes, 2 merits and 1 distinction. Mixed feelings really as the 2 passes really deserved merits. sad.gif

Just checked online and it says that the candidates results have been issued by post - but they are not published on the website... Does this mean a failure?

W sad.gif

No, I've had a failure pop up online, so it just means an administrative mess-up.

Happily, and coincidentally, the owner of the afore-mentioned fail has just passed Grade 7 after changing boards and pieces. biggrin.gif

Aaaargh! I can't stand the waiting! This was a VERY weak candidate who I have just inherited. She had already been working on the pieces (she seemed to have tried most of the syllabus) for ages and was getting fed up with them so I tried to find the ones with the fewest ingrained mistakes...

W sad.gif

Phew! Just got the results online! She got 118 - if only she had managed to get some of her scales right...

What a relief for you! It's amazing how sometimes the ones we're in despair over do much better than expected. smile.gif

I had an experience like that a couple of years ago. A new-to-me Grade 5 candidate was still struggling with her scales with only a couple of weeks to go to her exam when she told me that she'd only got 7 for them at Grade 4. ohmy.gif

Hoping too - but it does say six weeks on the exam letter and the exam was exactly four weeks ago tomorrow. I have known the results arrive within five weeks - so probably at least another week to wait mellow.gif

The letter and regs, etc, all say six weeks. For the last couple of years (because that's all I know about), the results start coming out at about 4 weeks. BUT, the results for theory don't come out all at once - despite everyone taking the exam on the same day. They come out broadly in alphabetical order by centre number. I had a centre ID starting witha B, and my two theory results arrived bang on 4 weeks. Other people down in the Ts and Xs had to be patient a while longer...

Yes.... my centre begins with a Y and we are always way, way later than everyone elses. I get very frustrated.......... Still.... it won't stop me beginning to look from today.....
Deborah
A couple of years ago, several Forummers all sat Grade VI theory in the same session, albeit at our local centres. The results were released alphabetically by centre number, and having sat the exam at an X centre, the agony became worse when people with early centre numbers received their results over a week before I received mine.

laugh.gif good time to ask, actually, if there is a list of the centres? I'd like to see if there are others close by as my students practical exams have been allocated to where I did my grade 8 - and I really really didn't like the piano - it sounded SO horrid - there were tears after... unsure.gif My students have all commented on the sound of it being off-putting.

Just got my Trinity Guildhall exam results back:

1 grade 2 cornet distinction
1 grade 3 cornet pass
1 grade 3 tuba merit
1 grade 4 trombone pass
1 grade 5 cornet merit
1 grade 5 cornet distinction
1 grade 6 tenor horn merit
1 grade 6 tenor horn distinction
1 grade 6 euphonium distinction
1 grade 7 trumpet distinction

Very pleased for them all. They took the exams on tuesday so just waiting now for my AB practical results and the blessed theory results.

Sorry to jump in here but wondered if you could use your experience of previous years and also how things are shaping up this year to predict how long we are likely to have to wait for the result of an ABRSM practical exam taken on Tues 2nd ?
I suppose the big question is "will it be out before the end of term or will my child have to sweat it till New Year?"

Congratulations to you and your students Kixmusic!

Just read my results online ...

Two grade ones and a grade six; all piano and all of them got merits.

The child who thought she was asked for scales in the wrong 'format' which I mentioned on another thread got 128. It is not clear whether the scale thing affected her marks - she scored 17 in scales, tending to do better in other areas (17 for aural eg) so it is to be hoped that she didn't lose 2 marks over the mistake! I imagine all will be clear when I see the report: anyway the board must have satisfied themselves that all was well since I guess they would not have issued the marks otherwise.

Congrats to your pupils maggiemay.
I am thrilled to just get my practical results on line...... 133 for Gr 1 and 126 for Gr 3. Really pleased with my Gr 3.... she got 29, 28 and 27 for her pieces. Unfortunatley she really messed up her aural and her sight reading. I have been told she is dyslexic but the mum won't get her diagnosed as she doesn't want her labelled so I can't get her any extra time for sight reading...... And my Grade 1 has only been playing for 2 terms.....

Hello!

My student's marks for the latest session ranged from 108 - 140. The 108 was the only pass mark, all the others either passed with Merit or Distinction. The child who passed with 108 is , however , quite talented, but chose not to practice, and could have done soooo much better.
However, I was absolutely thrilled with the 140 for an 8 year old at Grade 3!!! (All piano)

Now just the wait for the Theory results!

That is a fantastic mark Emory. I bet the 8 year old is chuffed to bits and you can bask in reflected glory. To do so well so young shows real promise, I wonder how young she will be when she takes grade 8. I hope you are keeping her theory up to date too.
Emory
Thank-you - I don't really know if the child's parents realised just how well he had done, so I asked them to come and see me to discuss the results! I think they thought that he had failed!!

I was very pleased with this mark, the child had worked hard, and is very talented, and having only a small teaching practice now, it really encouraged me as a teacher.

Thanks Jod, yes , the child did Grade 1 theory this session, which apparently was quite easy(according to him!!) so hopefully the mark will reflect this!

I heard the result on Dec.4 for an exam I accompanied 8 days earlier, so I think it's very likely you will get the result before the end of term, though reading other people's reports further up this thread they haven't all been quite that quick.

At last! Theory results :

Grade 1 2 x Distinction, 2 x Pass
Grade 5 1 x Pass

Phew!! The Grade 5 was distinctly dodgy - exactly 18 hours work (ie lesson time only) from a student who did ZERO homework!
Violinia
Just got three results in - a Grade 1, a Grade 2 and a Grade 3. The Grade 1 girl (aged 7) got a distinction with 136!!! The Grade 2 boy got a merit with 121 which I'm wildly excited about as it was his first exam and when I took him on a year ago he could barely play a note in tune or otherwise.. wacko.gif

The Grade 3 girl passed with 117 and I know she'll be very upset about this as she got a distinction with her Grade 1 a couple of years ago. However, she hardly did any real practice until the couple of weeks before the exam so she guessed what was coming. But at the end of the day 117 is only 3 marks off a merit so she shouldn't be too disappointed and the good bit is that she got 18/18 for her aural, which is fantastic. On that note, the boy got 18/18 for aural as well and the Grade 1 girl got 17/18 so I don't hold with teachers saying aural is just too difficult to teach or that there isn't time to prepare for aural tests in school-based lessons - there is if you integrate it into lessons and make it a priority rather than an annoying add-on.

But anyway I can't WAIT to pass on the distinction result as the mother seemed to have lost faith in me (or in her daughter's ability to even pass the exam) in the run-up to the day, and even considered withdrawing her child! Wow they are going to be so happy, as are the merit boy and his mum! Yay!!!
