The Adult Learners are getting theirs, so surely as teachers we are getting ours in too.
So far two passes my Grade 7 Recorder, and a Grade 1 Piano.
My last candidate has had his exam rescheduled to 1/12/2008 due to family reasons.

I heard exactly a week after the exams. Six candidates: three Grade 2s, and one each of 3, 5 and 7. All passed with merit.

I was particularly pleased for my Grade 3, taking her first AB exam (having previously done Music Service in-house exams) who got 123, and my Grade 7, who only took Grade 6 at Easter, had intervening GCSEs and still managed to get 126.

Best of luck Clare. It could well be that postponing until February/March for those 4 pupils will in the long run be a good thing. Don't worry.

Having just spoken to a friend whose son failed a TG Drum exam as he was entered too early postponing pupils is a much better thing for their self-esteem than knowing they will perform badly.
However 8 days before his grade 1 piano exam my pupil was all over the place. It was due to his tenacity and hard work, and the metaphorical kick up the back side I gave him in the lesson he passed. His parents refused to withdraw him, and has a result he passed. Mum and Dad never gave up, neither did he, and he got the result he deserved.

Oh, well done Deborah!

I think you were so brave to take the exam, and what a wonderful result! Where will you go from here?
I'm still trying to make up my mind whether to try myself next year. I think it would encourage me to play better if I had some lessons, but I'm not sure whether actually taking an exam is the best thing. When I took my grade 6 (25 years ago) I nearly died of nerves; I couldn't control my hands at all until the last 2 pieces (you did 4 pieces in those days) but fortunately because they were better and the sightreading was good, I scraped a pass. Maybe I'll find a teacher and see what (s)he advises.
Very well done to emsoboe, too. She must have a wall full of certificates by now! You must be so proud of her, notmusimum.

No, I've had a failure pop up online, so it just means an administrative mess-up.
Happily, and coincidentally, the owner of the afore-mentioned fail has just passed Grade 7 after changing boards and pieces.

Aaaargh! I can't stand the waiting! This was a VERY weak candidate who I have just inherited. She had already been working on the pieces (she seemed to have tried most of the syllabus) for ages and was getting fed up with them so I tried to find the ones with the fewest ingrained mistakes...

Having got my November 13th results in, it is now December 1st and time for my final Candidate to take his exam, so with any luck there will be good news in a a couple of weeks providing he does his best in the room.
