Anyone doing Grade 6 with ABRSM soon?
which pieces are you doing?

my teacher said i should be aiming for March but i think June is more realistic...( i was only started looking at 2 of the pieces in lessons last week!)

Just wondering what the step up is in an aural respect and if there were anyone out there who is in need of virtual support.

I HATE B MAJOR. (sorry)

I'm doing:
Largo and Allegro (A2)
Berceuse (B2)
Con Brio (C1)

anyone doing or done these pieces?
I'm worried that I might be entered for March before being ready, my teacher's being really weird(he's normally so good)...

Thanks in advance

I don't play flute but I can help you as regards aural.

In grade 5 your singing at sight was free rhythm, but for grade 6 you're given a short melody to sing. Also you have to recognise cadences (perfect V-I, plagal, IV-I, imperfect, I,ii,IV-V and interupted, V-vi) and there's the usual clapping back rhythms and answering questions on the piece the examiner plays about metre, key (major/minor), Form and what period it might be from.

Hope thats what you were looking for! smile.gif

Have you told your teacher you're not comfortable doing your exam then? He obviously has faith in you though!!

Good luck in your practicing!! flute.gif flute.gif

I'm afraid I did grade 6 years ago and so the pieces on the syllabus have changed and aren't too familiar to me, but I did want to say that regarding:

agree.gif I sympathise! I've never liked that scale. Nothing for it but to practise it slowly and over and over again...

Good luck with practising! smile.gif
