A gentle shove to the top of the forum for this thread I think, why not banish those post-Christmas blues away with a clarinet recital from us biggrin.gif

Sunday 4th January, 3:30pm, St. Mark's Church, Reigate.

Yay for the Carousel Quartet in Reigate in January!

Chase away those post-Christmas blues, with not a cturkey.gif sandwich to be had all afternoon.
There will be music.
There will be nibbles and wine for the interval.
I have been promised that the heating will be on!
Better still, there will be barry-clari, jo.clarinet, Carl, and, er, me smile.gif

Tickets are just £6 (£3 children), available at the door. PM me if you'd like to come and I'll make sure that the relevant number of tickets will be left for you. Start time is 3.30, and we should be done by 5.00.

Any profit made will go to our local Overseas Aid Trust.

Go on, buy tickets - the perfect clarinetty Christmas present.

Good luck all of you...... I just checked my flight tickets to see if I could return home to Somerset from Canada via Reigate that day (I just got excited seeing the word Reigate on the forums as I come from there) but I don't think it's going to be possible as one of my children has to be back to school the next day..... So, sorry about that..... and all the best

Please come. For your entertainment and amusement, there will be Dvorak! There will be Tchaikovsky! There will be other ease-you-gently-back-to-work-on-the-Sunday-at-the-end-of-a-long-break music.

...and so there was Dvorak, and there was Tchaikovsky. And it was all very lovely indeed.

Congratulations to the Carousel Quartet on a splendid performance biggrin.gif
Deborah
Aww, you're too kind blush.gif

Yes, didn't go too badly. A couple of things with which I wasn't totally happy, but therein lies the joy of live performance. Nevertheless, a good afternoon's work. clarinet.gif clarinet.gif clarinet.gif clarinet.gif

Good size audience - over ten times the size of the one in Rotherhithe - who seemed to appreciate what we did. Thank you to those Forummers who braved the cold to venture into the gin-drinking Jaguar-driving heart of suburban Surrey, and to my fellow Carousellers without whom the concert would have been a very lonely affair. smile.gif

To make me really happy indeed, some quick back-of-an-old-ticket calculations adding up ticket income, donations and some Gift Aid reclaim means that we raised a total of about £300 for the overseas aid trust mentioned above. woot.gif

Well done to all of you. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. And a special thank you to the ladies of the church for supplying cushions - it made all the difference. biggrin.gif
Suepea
Well done The Carousel Quartet! The Light Beat and I enjoyed our foray from the northern borders of Surrey to the gin-drinking Jaguar driving parts (it's more likely to be beer and Fords round our way!). An excellent anount to raise for the St Mark's Overseas Aid Trust. We appreciated the cushions and the delicious home made cookies too.
barry-clari
A thoroughly enjoyable day - thank you to all the audience for coming along (including forumites katyjay, andante, Suepea, The Light Beat, Clarissa), all the people behind the refreshments and other essential backroom tasks, and of course to my fellow Carousellers : Deborah, Carl and jo.clarinet. smile.gif

Really pleased we raised so much Deborah! biggrin.gif

A great way to start the forumming in 2009! yay.gif

Well done all. It sounds like it was great smile.gif

Glad to hear the day went well and that you raised so much for charity. Well done, clarinettists! clarinet.gif

Well, it's been six and a bit weeks since the concert, during which time I've had an awful lot of people say how much they enjoyed the concert.

Better still, I heard this morning that I've managed to squeeze some matched funding out of my employers, so the total raised is now over £600. woot.gif hurrah.gif yay.gif party2.gif highfive.gif
