My daughter likes the sound of it, and would like to meet James Rae and Paul Harris. Don't know if she'll make it though as it's her brother's birthday that day....

Never met Paul Harris, but James Rae is a very pleasant man, more than willing to talk about all things clari biggrin.gif

If your daughter can make it, I think she'd enjoy it. smile.gif

I'm booked too! Looking forward to it - if a little anxious about being quite up to the standard
Halka
My daughter's going too! I'm hoping this doesn't mean I have to spend the day loitering in the Sally Army cafe....

Hi all,

Happy New Year, (again).

I'm in! And once again I am soooo looking forward to catching up with old friends and hopefully making new ones.

Regards, Peter.

Oh, I'm sure there are other places you can find to loiter on Oxford St...

It sounds like fun, but Saturdays for me are usually music packed in any case so I'll have to give it a miss.

I have the day off work that day so am thinking about it. Think it might be a bit too expensive for me though - can't really afford £25 as well as about another £25 train fare to get there sad.gif

That's a shame Morgan's Munchkin, it would have been good to meet you, but these days of 'credit crunch' I certainly understand...

Regards, and maybe another time, Peter.

that's a pity sad.gif - all being well, I'll see you at the Colchester do. smile.gif
Deborah
I can come! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif clarinet.gif

I look forward to seeing those of you I've met before, and meeting those I haven't.

The trade stands look fun, but are at a bad time - on top of HMRC demanding all my money, the car recently failed its MOT as well sad.gif

Hey, Carousellers, do you think James Rae would autograph our copy of Cinerama (as performed in Reigate on 4th January </plug>)? I'm sure I've sung Beethoven 9 under Richard Dickins as well.

If anyone wants to meet up for a coffee first?
I'll be getting in between 0920-0930am to have a look round, and hopefully the cafe will be open aswell.

See you all there, I cannot wait.

Sure - trains/buses permitting, I should be there by about half past nine. smile.gif
smd
I'll be there for coffee too. We can always find a coffee shop if the cafe isn't open at the Salvation Army.
barry-clari
Any last minute people wanting to go to this - closing date is this Monday, so to be on the safe side, you probably want to post your application tomorrow smile.gif
barry-clari
Have just read that they've taken 100 applicants...

It's gonna be loud biggrin.gif
smd
Wow - 100 people as you say that's going to be loud.

I'm really looking forward to it.
Halka
My daughter is getting excited too - but is hoping any saxophones present won't drown out the clarinets!!

We hope to be able to join any takers for coffee beforehand. See you all soon!

See you a week Saturday! biggrin.gif

Oh it's sad that i only just noticed this thread, i wouldn't have been able to go anyway, i'm seeing my friend play her cello in a competition and back home. Do tell me how it goes won't you all?!
controller76
Just over a week to go and now I have friday, saturday, sunday and monday off work with my next clarinet lesson on Tuesday morning.

I will be practicing all weekend and all week.

I am so looking forward to our day and knowing me I'll get there sooooo early... I'll probably be on my 2nd coffee when everyone starts to turn up.

See you all there.

Clarinets of the world unite.

Regards, Peter.

P.S. Saxophones ARE cool too, just clarinets ARE better. No offence meant to all you brilliant forum saxophonists.
barry-clari
It's in 6 days biggrin.gif

I should be there by about 9:15-9:30ish.

Looking at the TfL website, the only engineering on the tube that may affect people coming in is the lack of Jubilee line between Green Park and Stratford.

Is everyone ready? With a credit card with plenty of credit on it for the stalls? biggrin.gif
barry-clari
Got a letter today from the organisers.

*must remember music stand, must remember music stand*
Deborah
Got my letter today too. biggrin.gif

Barry, in your all-embracing effort to remember your music stand, don't forget your pencil. There was something else too... what was it?... let me think... ah yes... CLARINET!

Last year, there was at least one stand giving away free pencils biggrin.gif
barry-clari
Has everyone packed their pencils/stands/instruments?

See you tomorrow! biggrin.gif
pianocelloflute
Just done a final practise before putting everything in my bag! *shouldn't forget everything if I pack tonight!* tongue.gif

See you tomorrow! biggrin.gif

I can't now make it - far too much to do ...

Seems like I'm the first one back - it was a brilliant day, with excellent conductors and a really varied selection of music. For me the venue is SO easy to get to, which is an added bonus. I can't wait for the next one now! smile.gif

Apart from Jo and I, Halka and daughter, Deborah, smd and controller76 were all there. Didn't spot pianocelloflute or taxidriver - did you both come?

It was a great day, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully the ELCC will do another one next January smile.gif fingersCrossed.gif
pianocelloflute
I was there! It was brilliant to play with so many other people, haven't done that for years. smile.gif

We made it into a day- went to the Philharmonia concert at RFH in the evening- was great too.
taxidriver
Yes I was there - it was such fun, although I could barely speak by the end of the day, my lips were worn out!!! Some of the music was too difficult for me - but I enjoyed playing the bits I could. I sat just in front of the saxaphones. Wasn't the bass sax wonderful! This is the first time I have done anything like this and so look forward to another one.

So you spotted me then - the rather excitable clarinettist in the second row, three in from the end laugh.gif
