Full Version: Violin Duets Around Grade 6

Hi there,

I am looking for violin duets to play with a student who is around grade 5-6 standard.

For some reason I never played lots of duets apart from the ones in the Doflein Method Book 5 - I might use some of those and I will also have a closer look at Mazas op. 38.

Any other suggestions? The student particularly likes Baroque Music, so maybe a Vivaldi Concerto for 2 Violins might be something - but then there are loads and Music Shop might not have all in stock for me to look at, so advice is really appreciated.

Many thanks.

Vivaldi Opus 3 has a couple of concertos for 2 violins. From memory Op3 No11 is about the right level and I think Op3 No8 is a duet concerto too but I don't know how hard it is.

Bach Double is probably a bit hard at Grade 6 - can be attempted though not played really well.

Also, not Baroque but, consider Campagnoli Op 14 - 6 Duets for two violins are a good selection and must be the right level of difficulty I should think

Thank you very much, that sounds very helpful.
