Does anybody know the piece she plays at the beginning http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VY0TXZW-HbE and at 10:07ish

I think it's some version of Ave Maria? I recognise it and i absolutely love it, possibly the most beautiful piece i've ever heard wub.gif I'd love to attempt to play it or even to be able to hear a full version of it, but i don't know what to look for. Does anyone know where i could find a recording?

I *think* i may have posted this question before ages ago, or maybe i'm imagining things, but i still don't know so i'll ask again biggrin.gif I'm desperate laugh.gif

Did i? haha!
I hadn't listened to the piece in a while, then i just did and thought 'i wish i knew exactly what it was... i'll ask everyone on the forums!' But thought it felt familiar as i was typing it out...

Silly me blush.gif

It's basically Schubert, though ISTR he wrote it for piano, and Gounod did something to it later. You can watch Menuhin playing it here.

Thanks biggrin.gif The part with the double stops oh my gosh, most beautiful melody i've ever heard biggrin.gif wub.gif

(though i'm sure i'll change my mind about that when i attempt to play it and most likely murder it!!)

Yes it is such a beautiful piece. Here is a vocal version of it:

Violin always reminds me of voice, and vice versa, I don't know why... smile.gif
I wonder whether violinists imagine their instruments singing as they bow away... sleep.gif
