Entered pupil for his (and mine) first jazz piano exam - grade 3. He got 126 - soooo happy, he really enjoyed the exam. I would like to take him further, as he seems keen, but not really sure about my knowledge to take him to grade 4, chord voicings etc. was thinking to have some jazz piano lessons myself to learn more. does anyone know any good teachers in the north london area? thanks smile.gif

Congratulations to you and your pupil. You must be doing something right! This chap has written several books on jazz and blues piano that are good for teaching and he offers lessons too. I went to a workshop that he ran organised by a group of piano teachers in Cardiff - might be worth seeing if he is doing anything similar in London, where he is based.

There's a wealth of great jazz pianists in London - nearly all of them are happy to teach. Go to a few local gigs, see who you enjoy listening to and ask them if they do any teaching. Or try teachers or postgrad students at Guildhall / RAM.
