Hello percussionists - advice urgently required please!

Daughter has a set of bongos and has been told to tune them to C and G, which we duly did this evening. However, within the hour, they had shifted to B flat and E flat and another hour on they are now at B and E. I'm reluctant to keep fiddling, because they are obviously going to take some time to settle. This is the first time we have attempted to tune them.

The question is - what is the best thing to do now - leave it or try to re-tune them again? The concert is tomorrow evening (Wednesday) in a freezing abbey. Any tips greatly appreciated...

Bump! Eek, now they are at A and D. Grrr, this is really annoying!

Well goodness knows what happened in the end, but the concert was a success and the bongos sounded fine! Would be interested in any comments re tuning if anyone happens to be passing... Thanks! laugh.gif

I'm glad to hear that it went fine in the end. To be honest, I've never heard of bongos needing to be tuned to specific notes. I thought the only real idea was to have two pitches! I can't imagine anyone ever noticing bongos being out of tune with a group! If you really do need to tune them, I suppose the best thing to do would be to wait until you're at the concert venue, and tune them as close to the concert as possible.
