Youngest son is loving his singing at the moment, sings 3rd in his all boy choir.

Since it is the season of concerts he is very busy, he commented the other day how much easier he was finding it to sing in his high and low register at the moment, he has never really been a treble at all, more an alto but these carol descants are coming easily to him lately. BUT he also said he thinks the quality of sound of his middle range is less good...

Is this a Sign?? He is only 11 but all his (many) older brothers had their voices change at 12 and 13.

First signs are the deterioration of the mid-range and not getting quite so high comfortably, also the tone becoming quite breathy. One of my students is going through this at the moment. He was 13 in August and I have noticed the slight changes for about 14 months now. It is often combined with a growth spurt.
