Hi,
Does anyone know any suitable choirs for a 17 year old who will be 18 in 2 months located in South London or Surrey? I live in weybridge, surrey during the term time and often with my mum in SW London during holidays.
Please note I can't attend choirs which rehearse on mondays as I have orchestra rehearsals on mondays.
Thanks for any help.

Depending on what you like to sing - Weybridge Male Voice Choir (I'm assuming you are male as you go to Halliford School), Shepperton Singers, Riverside Singers, Spelthorne Choral, Egham Choral. I wish there were as many amateur orchestras to choose from!

Cheers guys. Need to check them all out. Weybridge male voice choir is just old people so i nwould not be suited to that choir but will investigate the rest.
I like singing classical songs mainly, not pop or rock choirs. I like traditional choir songs although I have enjoyed singing she leaving home, boogie woogie boy among others in my school choir.

Hi Violin hero,
I live in Woking and there are quite a lot of Choirs here and in West Byfleet, however they do seem to be mainly 'older' people. but I hope that the Choir comps on the TV may change that.
The local council web site has a good area on 'clubs and societies' that lists them. I can't remember many of them but I can check in the local paper on Thursday if you want me too. I know there is the The Genesis Choral, Epworth Choir, Woking Choral Society, St John singers (I think) and I'm sure there is another one or two as well.
I've got a couple of friend in their early 20's and they are looking for a local 'lively' choir in Woking too - so if they find anything I'll let you know, but so far I know they have drawn a blank but were thinking of starting something themselves. If you do find something can you let me know and I'll pass it on to them too.

I have e-mailed the epworth choir and am considering all saints in kingston. I have a concert with them on saturday. I am in an orchestra playing the music with them singing the words. I will see if they are good then.

I think you will find that this is the case with many choirs! They need you younger people to keep things going.

Sue is right. We are always keen to encourage younger people to join.
All Saints Kingston may a be a good bet. I sang there last month in a performance of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius, and although this was Kingston Choral Society rather than the parish choir, there did seem to be lots going on. Nice organ too!
Good luck - hope this works out for you. My choir has a new dynamic director of music who is doing lots of new music with us - but on the other side of the county so probably a bit far for you.

That sounds normal for a church choir. Can be a big commitment, with the musical satisfaction level depending on the competence of the choir and the musical choices of the choirmaster.
I hope you find something that's just right for you.
