Sort of. We had our scratchy messier last night with an orchestra of about 15 plus organ. It seemed the bass soloist had the lurgy. So I filled in the first three (or two depending how you count) with no run through with the orchestra before hand, Why do the nations was skipped and the conductor (who is really a tenor) sounded the trumpet near the end (I think he'd already had a run through with the orchestra - and he probably thought that as a tenor that was his only opportunity to sing the Trumpet shall sound with an orchestra). For the rest of the time I had to bolster the tenor line, except when I got fed up with all the F#s and Gs and swapped back to bass, much to the confusion of the poor chap next to me!
Quite a fun way to do it actually.
