Ayshah
I just watched my son, my only son, heir to the brass instruments, drums and the fishing rods, ride off on his first motorcycle sad.gif sad.gif

It was worse than watching him learn to ride a two wheelbike
Worse than when he started school
worse than listening to him practise his trumpet
Worse than sitting GCSE A levels etc
Worse than leaving him at University
Well just the worse so far... ill.gif

- me at the door with such a fake smile waving this young leather clad boy (ok so he is 21) ride off on his very first motor vehicle and I couldnt go with him and hold his hand! I want to follow him and make sure he is safe. I wish he had got a moped, it doesnt go very fast and is much safe than this monster thing!

argh.gif argh.gif argh.gif I wish I didnt have to let him go. And why doesnt his Dad understand my pain?
Why does he keep muttering oh wish I had a motorcycle too.

Have you told him how worried you are? Maybe you need to tell yourself that he's sensible and will be ok. And I'm sure he will. smile.gif

Sympathies. I remember my mother standing by the window, white-faced, as my 17-year old brother took off on his motorbike. sad.gif Eventually, he moved onto cars, but she had a rough year or two.....

In fact, she had ridden regularly on the back of my father's Norton even at 9-months pregnant (with me!) in her youth. Still, didn't make it any easier for her .....

The trouble with motorbikes is that they seem to give lads a sense of invulnerability, whereas in fact you're very exposed on a bike. Still, you can't shield your children from every danger, and they do have to have some fun in life.

I hope he's very sensible, Ayshah, and that you won't be worried for too long. I think I know how you are feeling though!

You have my sympathy. My son wants to know when he can get a ride to school on the back of his dad's - the answer is not whilst he's still at school!

Morgan's Munchkin
Make him get a horse instead!! Definately the way to go!!

Although I think my mother would have rathered I'd got a motorbike when I came home with my last beast - a massive unbroken monster (there's no other words to describe what she was like when I got her!).
