I have managed to sustain damage to my violin by accidentally knocking it against something. This has resulted in a small break to the wood in one of the corners, where the top section overhangs the side. Is this something that is easily repaired, or is it going to be expensive?

Thanks,
Matthew

Unless it's a really priceless instrument, I wouldn't bother having it fixed, to be honest. Take it to a luthier and ask him to tidy it up with a drop of varnish - unless there's a hole in the actual body, you'll be fine.

It's actually hanging off... Only small, but really needs attention!

If it's a clean break, and you have the broken off bit, it would be a simple matter to have it invisibly reglued and the varnish retouched if necessary. Have it done asap and avoid getting any contamination into the broken area.
On the other hand, if reconstruction of the corner is required, this could be a tricky, expensive job, and probably not worth it, like rosfrog says.

I took my violin to be repaired today. It was a very simple task, and so now all is well! biggrin.gif
