Could you please give me some advice about good books? I would really appreciate your help.

I am starting to play jazz on my violin (my teacher plays quite a lot of jazz in an ensemble at parties etc..). My teacher told me to find a book from the "1001" series that he said had 1001 jazz tunes in it, but all I could find was a book called "1000 jazz licks". I think the book he wants is out of print.

We have some violin jazz CDs, Stephane Grappelli and also Violin Jazz 1927-1944 with Stuff Smith etc.

Could you please give me some advice about good books or people to listen to? I would really appreciate your help.
