I seem to have lost my singing voice!
Bit of background- I have been in hospital for 3 months, and so haven't done any singing for that long either.
Now, when I try to sing, I have lost all my upper register, and my lower register is reduced/sounds awful.
What should I do? I can't join the choirs I used to be in, because I won't be able to sing enough of each piece for it to be worthwhile.
Thanks
PCF.

Just work back up gently - it will come back if you do the same exercises you used to get it in the first place.
Take it slowly and give yourself a bit of time.

I have been doing exercises to get it back, and it is slowly working.
On Christmas Eve, I sang in the choir for Midnight Mass, and warmed up properly on my way down to Church- I could get (slightly squeakily) the top notes of the descants, and easily got the low notes of the alto lines. (I am required to do harmonies for the choir, being such a small choir!)
Just need to keep going now, and hope to get the rich sound back again...

Don't panic - if it was there before, it will come back again.
Try some really gentle sirening on the sound 'ng' (as in sing) - keep it light and whimpery and keep the volume very low indeed - make sure you don't increase the volume or support as you go up. Do it over octaves to begin with, if the voice cuts out, try to stand taller and make sure that the head isn't forward. Once you've got the octaves down, try two octaves. Then do two octaves going up on NG and opening gently (still very low volume) onto an Italian 'i' sound and sliding down again. Eventually, you'll be able to use just the vowel sound and then you're ready to start singing gently too.

Take a lesson with Rosfrog, David, then you can kill two birds with one stone!

(I don't teach knitting, by the way, just in case a load of people from OLTVA start asking me to teach them tricot !)

And here was me thinking that knitting, being a nonvocal activity, was the same whichever language you were performing it in. Just goes to show how ignorant you can be!!
